The Federal Government of Nigeria recently procured a total of 77 vehicles for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The vehicles meant for the operations of the corps were supplied by indigenous Nigerian automaker Innoson Motors. The supply consisted of three ambulances and seventy four Innoson IV4M 4X2 Double Cabin Pickups.

Representing President Muhammadu Buhari at the commissioning of the delivered vehicles in Abuja, Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in his speech stated that the procurement of the vehicles was geared toward fostering safety on Nigerian roads and boosting economic growth in the nation. He further informed Nigerians of the federal government’s commitment to making provision of necessary logistics, financial and legal supports to the institution.

Founded in 1988, the FRSC is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring safety on roads across the nation. The institution operates in all the thirty six states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Its core duties include making the highway safe for users and ascertaining the road-worthiness of vehicles plying Nigerian roads.



Innoson Motors is a Nigerian automobile manufacturing company founded by Innocent Chukwuma. The company produces 70% of its car parts in Nigeria, and imports the remaining parts from Japan, Germany and China.
