The Federal University of Technology, Akure recently released a circular in the school warning students to desist from using Earpieces Within the school community..

This announcement was released after the protest of FUTA students due to a colleague being killed by an hit and run vehicle


The school authorities mentioned in the circular that the misuse of Earpieces, as well as other telecommunication gadgets in the Walkway and on roads has an adverse effect on students as well as the FUTA Community hence safety measure need to be taken.

Airpods are warned. The school definitely has a serious problem when its students are distracted or not using earphones properly. Talking about backwardness, it's not necessarily so and this is something institutions are battling with regarding millennials. Some of them don't want to transition to responsible adults but want the freedom. Every action comes with responsibilities, so if the school cannot afford to monitor all students' ears, they'll do what's best for them to avoid students putting them into trouble.

Aside millennials, drivers, cyclists and joggers are also warned and lives have been lost due to people's distractions using phones or listening to audio that prevents them from concentrating with their current environment. It's when your loved one has been affected by a distracted driver or you've become a murderer because someone forgot to pay attention on the road that this will hit home. Stay safe and 'listen responsibly'.
