China has now banned Wikipedia. According to a BBC report, the ban has block/affected all languages on the community-edited online encyclopedia.

Earlier, the enforced ban was seen barring Internet users from viewing the Chinese version, also it affected pages for sensitive search terms such as Dalai Lama and the Tiananmen massacre, the report said.

The block has been in place since late April, Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI), an internet censorship research group has revealed.

“We’re yet to receive any notice of the censorship,” the Wikimedia foundation said in a statement.

Wikipedia has now been listed among websites that cannot be accessed in China, in recent years has tightened its grip on access to information online. Sites already banned include, Google, Facebook and LinkedIn, this action has forced Internet users to use virtual private networks, or VPN, to bypass what has become known as the “Great Firewall” of China, Time.com said.

Unlike most countries the Chinese know how to efficiently utilize their massive population.

Those that think China is not smart should think twice. They have a way of plagiarizing premium products and creating their own.
China has the highest number of netizens in the world with upwards of 800million internet users per day.
They have their own version of FACEBOOK, SEARCH ENGINES, CHAT APPS ETC. now they'd sponsor a local ICT firm to clone the same services like Wikipedia.com and have them remove sensitive topics that they consider a threat to their socialist system of government.

Don't say what you don't know. Trump wants to increase the tariff of $200 billion d of Chinese goods and the same time wants to banned Huwaei product and you expect China to sit back and relax you think China is Nigeria who ass lick the United States. Well served China.

Personally I don't like the censorship of online contents in China but come to think of it, considering their population and their socialist system of government, moderation of activities is inevitable.
On the Trade War with the US, my brother US are not actually winning that war. The two countries are actually bearing the loss but China is at a better advantage because they have tighter trade grip with other countries of the world especially developing countries. The mere fact that Chinese currency is manipulatively lower than USD is another advantage. They kept their currency that way despite having higher Exports than the US so it will keep countries patronizing them and strengthening their economy and foreign reserves.
