Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by igbizen(m): 6:06pm On Dec 07, 2017
He said there is a supply from the dash board. He connected a wire from the fuse box or brain box and connected it to the battery end.

igbizen:Do you have a tracker fixed in your car?
If yes does it have an independent battery or uses your car battery?
If it uses your car battery that might be the problem or your front seat modules are faulty
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Autopartz: 3:07pm On Dec 08, 2017
New Steering rack for a 1997 Benz? That would be difficult to find any where. If you need toks(not Nigerian used) Ordinary is about 40k, while 4matic is 75k (All Abuja prices).

E class or C class v6, which one is advisable since both are same engine type? I am shopping for benz and loving the E class 2006
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by TheGrandMaster: 6:41pm On Dec 09, 2017
Fixed that about 3 years ago. Although lost engine due to sludge early this year, car is up and running after engine replacement. Thanks for asking.

Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by SmartchoiceNGR: 11:14am On Dec 10, 2017
dillinger:I don't like the smart keys. Hence I would not advice a Merc without traditional keys. Not worth the TROUBLE!
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by femionasan(m): 11:26am On Dec 10, 2017
Which keys are traditional keys and smart keys?
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Nobody: 2:19pm On Dec 10, 2017
METAL KEYS, ELECTRONIC CHIP KEYS RESPECTIVELY.
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by kingreign(m): 4:34pm On Dec 10, 2017
Go for any modern Benz. He is refering to Older models. Yes older models maybe less troublesome due to less electronics, but they'll fail more frequently due to age, wear and tear of parts over time. And to get those parts may be a challenge if you live in some parts of the country.
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by praxisnetworks: 4:57pm On Dec 10, 2017
I WILL DISAGREE IF IT IS GOING TO BE HIS ONLY CAR OR IF HE IS A TRAVELER ...BENZ SMART KEYS CAN FAIL WITHOUT NOTICE AND COSTS A SUM TO FIX...DEPENDING ON LOCATION.
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by kingreign(m): 5:00pm On Dec 10, 2017
Not the keyless go Benz keys circa 99-date I know.
There must had been an ish prior to its failure. Either it dropped, key in ignition with battery disconnected and reconnected, or some EIS malfunction.

ALL OF WHICH CAN CAUSE SOME PRETTY DELAYS AND LEAVE YOU STRANDED
WHAT PISSES ME OFF MOST IS THAT IT CANNOT BE HOTWIRED!
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by enitiObanke(m): 6:49pm On Dec 10, 2017
I saw this late. I get Bosch oil for w203 from Obi-Wealth, Area 3 Junction, Abuja. It's abt N3000. Regular Star filter for w203 is btwn N1000-N1500
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by femionasan(m): 10:34pm On Dec 10, 2017
Reason I ask is because all Mercedes have the metal keys these days. I don’t think you can find any benz from 2003 without the metal keys, I may be wrong.
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by SmartchoicesNG: 11:26pm On Dec 10, 2017
wrong..they all have plastic keys...with microchips inside
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by femionasan(m): 1:04am On Dec 11, 2017
What is the difference between the smart keys and the conventional keys?
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by SmartchoicesNG: 5:19am On Dec 11, 2017
conventional keys is what your vboot, w202 c class have... metal keys ok?
smart keys started with the facelift versions of the w210 and w202... they a made of microchips enclosed in a plastic material... they are capable of failing at no notice.... if they fall...which is inevitable, or if you remove the car ba3 with the keys inserted, or if rains or water enters them....
once they fail bro, forget it, if your spare key is not around (usually the case)... there is nothing you can do except to get a programmer to code a new key for you.... tokunbo short key is around 8k-12k before programming, new is 18-20k before programming, a complete package may cost you between 20k to 45k for keys replacement.... and heaven help you if you are in your village when it happens....
note you can not join wires under the steering wheels to start the vehicle...nah! even as the owner.... unlike those with conventional keys!
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by femionasan(m): 8:34am On Dec 11, 2017
So you won’t buy a Benz if it doesn’t have traditional keys?
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by SmartchoicesNG: 8:39am On Dec 11, 2017
femionasan:Not as my only car or a traveling car.
But what's a Benz that doesn't travel? Is that a real Benz? Answer is NO.
Two of my neighbors have been deprived of their cars for close to a month combined... even after parting with 80k.... Funny the cars have no issues except for the keys!
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Alexgray(m): 9:17am On Dec 11, 2017
femionasan:But for the w 204 with eis fault, no Benz smart key would ever fail without giving signs except the driver is the kind that doesn't pay attention to little changes. It cannot just suddenly fail. And besides the latest model cla, glc and Co are equipped with push button. People are embracing keyless and smart driving now. If you still insist on conventional keys in 2017, then don't buy recent models. Even a 1998 c class w202 and e class w210 have some with smart keys. Bottom line, they never fail without giving signs
