USA will be competing in their 16th U-20 World Cup in Poland, having missed only the 2011 edition since 1995. Two years ago in Korea Republic, USA suffered a 2-1 extra-time defeat against Venezuela at the quarter-final stage. That showing fell just shy of the nation’s best ever performance three decades ago when USA finished fourth. Two of USA’s four quarter-final appearances have come in the two most recent editions of the tournament.

Road to Poland

USA won their second consecutive CONCACAF U-20 Championship, and second overall, with a near-perfect campaign in November 2018. The Stars and Stripes shone on home turf winning all five group matches in a canter. The victorious run continued with 4-0 and 1-0 wins over Costa Rica and Honduras respectively in the qualification stage. That form was maintained in the continental decider as goals in each half from tournament Golden Ball winner Alex Mendez secured USA’s 2-0 win over Mexico.

The coach

Tab Ramos has been a key figure in USA soccer for four decades as either an international player or coach. After playing for the national team 81 times and in three FIFA World Cups™, including on home soil in 1994, Ramos turned to serving the national association in the coaching realm. Ramos has been coach of the U-20 national team since 2013. Ramos guided the country to a quarter-final finish at New Zealand 2015 and Korea Republic 2017. He also served as Jurgen Klinsmann’s assistant on the senior team until late 2016 in a stint that included Brazil 2014.

That will be a true test for our boys, with the fast and aggressive pattern I saw the US play against Ukraine, e go hard for us o. But I see us beating them. against Qatar our defenders were caught napping more than once. A very clinical side can can run riot and punish our defense if we are not careful, aigbogun our coach should talk to them to keep it tight at the back. Our wing backs led by the dynamic captain ikouwem etin are good at offensive play, the midfield orchestrated by the highly rated man city boy dele bashiru and kingsley Michael have done well, the attack though not biting enough are not doing too badly. I think we are good to go against the Yankees

This is a shame on Nigeria football, in so much that I'm not their parents, this group of players got to be the oldest under 20 Nigeria ever paraded at the world cup. Yoruba people have an adage that says: oju lo mo ohun to yo inu. Laterally translated, merely looking at a plate of food, you will know what will fill your stomach. It is well my people.

Team USA is a tough nut to crack but I trust our boys to do a good job..I really like the style of play of those US players.very swift and cool..
The guy wearing jersey no 3 for us is good..see as he delete the Qatar guy to give an assist for our first goal against Qatar...
