What is the latest 2019 scam?

A few days ago I received a call from someone telling that he belongs to Reliance Life Insurance. He referred one of my earlier Life Insurance policy and informed that against my deposit of Rs. 30,000 the amount of Rs. 62,000 has been accumulated due to bonuses and loyalty additions over a period of time. This was surprising for me because the entire amount of policy he was referring to was withdrawn by me within 30 days under freelook period. This was due to reason that the policy bond I received was not in line with the promises made by the agent.

However, I continued to discuss with this person without informing about withdrawal just to know his intentions and modus operandi. I enquired what should I do to withdrawn the amount. Showing sympathy he told me either I would have to pay all previous premiums to continue or only amount for 2 years so that policy qualifies for withdrawal after 3 years annual premium (lock-in period). I told he that I want withdrawal, then he informed that he would have to send request to his IRDA for clearance in this regard and I would be receiving a call from Insurance Deptt for enquiry and generating a so called Code for approval.

The very next day I received a call from one person asking about the reason for not continuing the policy and after 2 minute discussion he told me that the he would be doing the needful within 2–3 days. The same evening first guy again called to enquire and advised me to keep on reminding so called IRDA person for approval. Third day thee IRDA person called and told me that he is releasing the code for approval.

Now on 5th day, the first person contacted me to inform that the approval has been received and now I need to send few documents and pay premium for 2 years and payment should be done through cheque favouring “F&F” instead of Insurance Company. The reason given was that it is for “Full and Final” settlement of policy. Now at this time I told him that you dont seem to belong to any Insurance Company because you are not aware that this policy has been closed long long back and are just trying to cheat me.

He disconnected the call and never called again. By sharing this incident, I want to send alert to all to be vigilant against such scams.

There are many money doublers here, and those who claim to come from a high place, using and insisting on using fake cheques.
