To say that blogging has diverse areas is a truism. It is like saying fish lives in water or that the sky is far from the ground. With this, I would like to state it clearly that while this post evaluates blogging generally in the Nigerian environment, it particularly revolves around CELEBRITY BLOGGING.

One common thing I have observed about most folks who address themselves as celebrity bloggers is the fact that they do not put factors such as creativity, hardwork, risks, boldness and 'go the extra mile spirit' into consideration when they blog. They can be equated to traders who rent empty shops and call on passersby to come and buy from them. The question then should be: What are they buying from you? Most Nigerian celebrity bloggers are just too lazy to carry out thorough research on celebrities while blogging. They lack that spirit to think and go the extra mile to find certain secret things that are true about these celebrities. Finding out secret things that are true about famous people is not and has never been an easy task. It involves so many stressful situations, risks, hardwork, perseverance, rejections and other things that may not come pleasantly.

People are more interested in patronizing you when you offer them something they cannot easily get access to. You will have an upper hand if you possess or have access to things they may not be able to know; shocking or interesting things that are true! The exact reverse is the case with most celebrity bloggers. They do not carry out complete ground work to ascertain stories or lives before posting things. Some other bloggers just go on social media pages of celebrities and copy posts! There is basically no creativity or hardwork in that because anyone can equally do that. A pupil of 8 in Pry 3 can do that as well. Why would you think that you you would become exceptional when what you are offering as news is accessible to anyone who cares to access it? You may continue to post but you may not be moving. Nobody travels in a circle without getting to where he or she has been. There is an extra mile to go in order to stand out.

Nigerian celebrity bloggers should take enough time to do thorough follow up on celebrities to unravel secrets, mysteries, stories, activities, etc in their lives before putting same as news. Why should I visit a blog to see Ini Edo's Facebook posts when I can easily visit her Facebook page to see them and even more? To stand is different from standing out!

THE TRUTH: You cannot be successful in blogging when you decide to join the bandwagon of mediocre celebrity bloggers who invade social media pages of celebrities to 'copy and paste' or go to online foreign discussion platforms to do 'copy and paste' on mere gossips!

Fishermen who want to catch mackerels should go to the sea; you cannot get them from the shallow stream at your backyard.
