[img][/img]You’ve spent hours writing the perfect CV, and now you’re ready to hit the job market.
You’ve spotted plenty of suitable jobs online and begin applying for them all with keen enthusiasm.

But that enthusiasm slowly turns to frustration, when weeks have passed, and you still haven’t had any positive responses. This experience is quite common among job seekers and can be hugely disheartening, but you shouldn’t let it beat you.

If you can identify the reasons why your applications are been ignored; you can tackle your weaknesses and turn your job hunt around quite quickly.

Take a look at these common job-hunting mistakes and learn the steps you can take to improve your CV and job hunting approach, to start landing interviews in your field.

(A). YOUR INTRODUCTION IS POOR.
Although it may have been said a thousand times, a poor cover letter will damage your job application in a big way.

Whether you are sending an email or using a job website messaging system, you need to write a cover letter that persuades the recipient to open your CV, or your application will fall at the first hurdle.
Be personable – Address the recruiter by name if you can find it, and write in a friendly tone to start the relationship off on the right foot.
Sum up your suitability – Read the job advert fully and use your cover letter to summarise exactly why you are a good fit for the job, by highlighting your most relevant skills and experience. If you can prove your suitability for the job, recruiters will be keen to open your CV.
Keep it brief – Most recruiters will receive hundreds of applications for their vacancies, so they don’t usually want to wade through a whole A4 page cover letter. A short and sharp paragraph of about two or three sentences should be enough to get your point across.
Sign off – Include a signature at the bottom of your message with your name and contact details, especially when emailing. It makes you appear that little bit more professional and ensures that the recruiter knows how to get in touch with you.
