We kicked off the celebrations on Thursday night with the Welcome Party @ Buka Restaurant in Brooklyn, Friday saw the Cultural Night where we experienced performances from world renowned artists such as Serani…and Miss Delta was crowned Miss Nigeria Independence 2010. The main event: Saturday Nigerians and our friends flooded the streets of NYC with pride in jubilant celebration as we partied with the floats from 54th street to 44th street with the festival at 47th St. Music, performances, food and beautiful weather, all made for a fantastic family day.

I had a good time for the most part. I missed the parade, but was at the concert on 2nd Ave. I ended going to the afterparty in Queens, as I was guessing Moka would be packed. Queens was packed to. Someone told me there was as many as five afterparties. Naija people, sha.  Are there any photos of the pageant winner?

I've always wanted to go to the nigerian parade in NY. This year i didn't have time and i was being lazy. LOL Maybe next yr . I wish they had something like this down here esp with the many nigerians/africans around here. The closest we get to having a "parade" is thru the carribean carnival parade. We create our own segment and float called "africarnival". But if we had one that was entirely devoted to africa, that would be so cool.
