The hope of Samson Siasia landing the job of tinkering the Super Eagles is not lost as the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) insists it will satisfy the yearnings of Nigerians by offering him the job.

NFA’s Assistant General Secretary (Technical), Mr. James Peters, told Daily Sunsports that Siasia is still in reckoning for the job of managing the senior national team, but that the final decision to offer him the job will be left for the board to take.

He said the management would still recommend Siasia for the job because of his antecedent and also because Nigerians were rooting for him to take over the Super Eagles having made impact at both the World Youth Championship with Flying Eagles and national Under-23 at the Beijing Olympics.

“At a point, we were beginning to consider Austin Eguavoen for the job after negotiations between Siasia and the former NFA board were deadlocked over wages but the match in Conakry against Guinea has changed all that and Siasia is back to reckoning. But then, he has to take what the federation has to offer him and not the other way round.

“Siasia will get the job by popular demand but then, he should brace up as managing the Super Eagles is a different ball game from handling the age grade teams. He has not been quite successful with some senior clubs he had handled before, so he must brace up for the big task. “I will recommend him for the job ahead of any other coach now but he has to agree to the conditions of the NFA and not him giving the conditions. He stands the best chance for now except the board decide to go for a foreign coach.

“As I said earlier, the board has the final say on who will be the next Eagles’ coach” he said.

It will be recalled that Samson Siasia’ demand of N15 million as salary and a sign on fee of one million USD stalled his being signed in July but after the NFA00 elections, the idea to contract him was jettisoned and the job was thrown open for other coaches to apply.

Siasia is too full of himself dis days, we know he can do dis and why is he wasting time, Money should not be the factor that would make him turn down the job.

Guy money is indeed a big factor. Some of our players are too arrogant.
In Nigeria discipline is not a norm. We are so materialistic to the extend that
we accord respect and those that have the cash and can flaunt it.
we misplace our priority when it comes to placing values.

Remember, if Siasia earns well enough, this will bridge a gap when it
comes to managing ego in the camp. That why our player
will rather respect a foreign coach white or black because they
won't come cheap. Also, A well paid coach won't subject
himself to mercy of his players for kick backs in terms of
pounds, dollar or euro.

Think of this. Siasia understand the game and he is
a disciplinarian. He is organized and know exactly what
to do at the right time. He wont lead Eagle to win the next WORLD CUP
in Brazil, but i tell you Eagles will make a statement.

We need him to give us the next Nations Cup first and then
discover the next generation of stars. Please let us support him
The FA will rather squander funds and enrich their pockets
rather than doing the right thing.

I still remember the monumental fraud during Berti Vogt's era.
Siasia is our own, let us all support him

Austin Eguavoen should been given more time to build a new team. Take it or leave it, he is far better than samson siasia when it comes to coaching. How will you expect him to perform wonders under the present senero, where he is been put under heavy pressure by the country football adminstrators and fans.

I don't see siasia succeding, b/cos he still has a long way to go interms of coaching non age grade teams. In JUTH he successfuly led them to relegation, Heartland left the champions league early, no thanks to siasia, even when 95% of the boys that the former coach used last year are still there. all this happens b/cos he couldn't use overage to cheat just as in U-20s and 23s

I will advice him to cut his teeth in the league before justling for the national team job.

Let's be sincere, Siasia is not ripe enough yet. We are only pushing him to his disgrace the way we did to Amodu. Till Siasia can coach a team in the UEFA league or the top leagues of Europe, he should not be encouraged to coach Nigeria. We need coaches with the type of Parreira's status for a super brand like the Super Eagles.
