Caesar To Caesar! What Are Those That Christians Should Give To Caesar by Nobody: 11:08am On Aug 07, 2019
it seems that there are misconception in Mark 12vs17 among Christians when Jesus Christ said give what belongs to Caesar to Caesar and what belongs to God to God.
my question as a Christian is what are those that belongs to Caesar that we need to give him in our contemporary world

What do you as a Christian think the Lord means?

Who is Caesar?
What/who does he represent?
What are the things that belongs to Caesar on earth?

Who is God?

What are the things that belongs to God?

Okay. But, I still need you to tell me what you understand the Master to be saying there.

If a none Christian comes to you with this, what will you tell him?

it really shows that things of the world must not be compromise with the things of God. there should be a clear separation between Spiritual things and things of the world

Okay my covenant brother. You know the people of the world who are led by the spirit of the world add a twist to the scriptures to accord themselves room to live as they like,(Compromise), but it not like that with us. The scriptures guides us on how to conduct ourselves in this dark and wicked world.

Let us look at those verses again and see what Master meant by 'The things which belongs to Caesar, and the things which belongs to God's.

C.E.V Luke 20:21-25
The spies said to him, “Teacher, we know you teach the truth about what God wants people to do.

And you treat everyone with the same respect, no matter who they are.

Tell us, should we pay taxes to the Emperor or not?” Jesus knew they were trying to trick him. So he told them,

“Show me a coin.” Then he asked, “Whose picture and name are on it?” “The Emperor's,” they answered. Then he told them,

“Give the Emperor what belongs to him and give God what belongs to God.”

@Oma307, pls in dealing with this verse look at the content of the message and the context wirhin which that message is given.

1. The content is Tax payment.

2. The Spies: What was their motive?
To trap the Master with TAX payment isues, so that they can arrest his followers saying they were disobeying the government of the day.

3. Should Christians pay tax?

Why not? In a normal Country like a America, what is tax money used for? Schools, hospitals, construction of roads, libraries, electricity, water board, Security etc.

Do Christians living in Nigeria (even when our tax money is stolen by those in power) go to school, use electricity, use roads, use water, do they go to hospitals etc? The answer is yes. So why shouldn't the Christians pay tax?

4. Who is Caesar? Caesar in this context represents any Head of Government. The president or the King of a particular domain. He discharges duties to his Ministers responsible for providing the people these aforementioned amenities.

So, the Master saying 'Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, He didn't mean a Christian should get involved in the Masquerades in his village becos that is what his tradition speculates.

He means, Where ever you as (a Christian live) comply to what the government demands of its citizens 'legally' for the furtherance betterment of that society.

Giving to God, is where Spirituality comes in.
Living and doing things according to the dictates of the scriptures.
If you read first and second Corinthians, you find there what you shd and not do.

1. Stuff like joing in the sacrifices performed in your village.
The traditional rights done in shrines for Whatever reason. Don't join in their Masquerades by saying 'Give to the ancestors what belongs to the ancestors, then go to church on Sunday and take holy Communion.

2. In a case of any disputes, don't take sides with one party because he/she is a relative or a friend. Speak the truth. Don't join in riots, don't join in protests, don't join to malign the leaders in government no matter how bad they are. Pray for them to change. Don't join in accusing people when there's an unproven allegations, even if proven, stay neutral. Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it are rhe issues of life. Remember the power of the tongue. Life and death are in it. From it shall proceed life and death as a Fruit for those who love it.

3. Let your wisdom be the wisdom of God. Do not be wise in your own eyes. Man's wisdom is devilish.

3. No pride, pomposity, braking about things. Controlling, manipulating, intimidating oppressing people to have your way. But be humble and sober.

4. Do not try to prove anything to anyone, do what Christ says and live by them. Do not be afraid of what they think they can do to you, they can't touch you. Your life is hid in Christ, and Christ's in God's.

5. Do not regard persons and their status to put them above Christ. Jesus is the Head of the Principalities and Powers that they serve. Their gods bow to Jesus. Remember that.

6. Do not fight back when attacked, whether spiritually or physically. God will fight for you. He says it his great pleasure to recompense evil to those who trouble you.

7. Do not eat food sacrificed to idols. E.g, salah meat or food during festivals in your village.

8. Don't give and take bribes because everyone is doing it, or pressured into doing it. Make sure you do things right to be in a position where even if you you asked to pay bribe, you can stand for your rights and say no. Don't be caught in a compromising situation.

9. Don't be pressured to do anything that's are not true, virtuous or of good report. A good name is worth more than silver or gold.

10, Amongst all others, Don't follow any bandwagon with their slogan, 'If you can't beat them, join them'. That is Unchrislike. If you can't beat them, leave them (Come out from amongst them and be ye separate) is the opposite of that slogan.

Stay safe and rapturable.

Amen.
