@Webmasters, Could you please tell me who Web-hosts Nairaland.com? Is it Lewis Media or some other foreign web host? I'm planning to launch a Simple Machines Forum website of my own and would like it to run optimally - just like Nairaland. To this effect, I would equally like to know of other local or foreign web hosts that you think can serve me well. I don't know technical terms to describe the size of my proposed website, but let's just say about the size and functionality of Nairaland. I do know about SMF I.0, 2.0 etc. I believe I would rather stay with SMF 1.0 - specifically 1.1.11 - rather than the upgraded 2.0. SMF 1.1.11, I believe, should serve the simplistic nature of the contents of my proposed site. Thanks for your kind responses in advance. |

Nairaland is hosted on a dedicated Server. An average config dedicated server cost about $200 per month. |

Nairaland cannot be using a shared host account. They're probably using a VPS or dedicated server. abhosts: An average dedicated server goes for $150 monthly. |

afam4eva: I get servers with the spec below for less. Intel® Core™ i7-920 Quad-Core 8GB Ram, 750GB x 2 HD. 100mbits With an extra backup space of 100GB 99% uptime SLA from the datacenter and they havnt disappointed me in years. However, its unmanaged. I got to do everything to get the box up, running and secure. As for what NL is running on, Seun's latest buzz has been about cloud servers. . Google BUZZ him. |
