A REPORT ON THE SENSITIZATION EXERCISE HELD BY SERVICOM CDS ON THE 30TH OF AUGUST

The Servicom CDS of Makurdi, Benue state took the initiative, courtesy of the president, Ebiem Obinna, to sensitize the general public and more precisely, the modern market of the state on some prevalent issues. The CDS team converged at the entrance of the market. There was an opening prayer at the beginning of the meeting.

Now, the CDS strategized and concluded to sensitize the targeted population in three different areas which includes Child abuse, Sanitation and Savings. Each of these divisions was headed by individuals who had specialised knowledge on the areas in question. Name Emmanuel, a child abuse researcher spearheaded the child abuse team, Moses Bassey Yong, an expert business consultant and the vice president of the CDS was the brain behind the savings group and lastly, the well experienced Cynthia Ochoku headed the Sanitation group.

The sensitization process took off with a loud awareness done by everyone round about the market. The awareness was accompanied with lots of singing of both the SERVlCOM anthem and other military chants. As for a mean of identification, a banner bearing the CDS logo was paraded too alongside the awareness. After the awareness, everyone splitted into the three groups and surrounded the whole market. They had interactions, discussions and dialogues with the market men and women, and even the customers who came to buy goods. A report from the leaders is that, as against popular opinion, these traders communicated intelligently and responded well to them and even made very valid contributions. This alone, beat the expectation of everyone.

After this was done, everyone gathered back to the meeting point. The deputy chairman of the market was invited to give a speech and while doing that, he thanks the president and the SERVICOM CDS for choosing modern market. After his speech, a representative gave the deputy chairman a short vocal report on their experience while sensitizing the people. All of these events was well covered by the media handlers of the CDS meeting .

The exercise ended with a closing prayer and the singing of the SERVICOM anthem loud and clear.
