No fewer than five people have lost their lives in an accident along Ado-Akure Road Ekiti State on Saturday. Several others were reported to have sustained various degrees of injuries. The accident, which involved an 18-seater white Toyota hummer bus with registration number Ekiti LG 05 MUE, occured around 5pm. The bus belonging to Ekiti State Market Women, which was reportedly conveying some guests from a wedding reception was said to have suffered brake failure. While three of the occupants were said to have died on the spot, two among the injured persons rushed to Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti for medical attention died owing to the severity of the injuries sustained. Multiple sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity with The Nation, said the driver of the bus which was on high speed lost control following which the vehicle somersaulted several times. According to the sources, three occupants of the bus died on the spot while others sustained injuries. They said: “The injured occupants of the vehicle have been taken to hospital for medical attention while the remains of the three dead persons have also been evacuated to the morgue. A source at the EKSUTH alleged that “two of the injured occupants rushed for medical attention had died. The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed the accident, said: “It was a lone fatal accident. Three persons were confirmed dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries”. According to Ikechukwu, it was alleged by some eyes witnesses that the driver was driving on a high speed, so he lost control of the vehicle and it somersaulted for a number of times”. I haven't traveled to another state for wedding before,and I will not. Except if it's a person I owe so much that I can die for, which for now,such person doesn't exist. I can count how many weddings I have been to in the last 10 years. These people died going for a wedding ceremony of 2 people who have likely been enjoying the benefits of marriage without even getting married. Who have likely Fu cked each other to coma. It was in 2012 when a colleague Invited everyone to his wedding in that same Ekiti, company provided a bus and those that interested enter the boss on that fateful Friday evening, there was a pregnant lady who has been praying for the fruit of the womb for almost seven year but God decided to answer her that year and she followed the bus after several warning from her husband and a friend. We all know how Ekiti road look like (Bad and Zigzag) then that was break failure like this the vehicle submersulted , the pregnant lady who didn't use a belt flied out of the vehicle via back glass and roll down to the pit. That's how we lost her. The wedding didn't go well, the organisation was put in sorrow, her family in sorrow. The groom who happened to be the staff resigned as a result of the incident. |

Look at that woman in blue with blood-stained clothes. Look at other surviving passengers standing around. Meanwhile, some foolish people are standing there taking pictures. Today is Sunday. Remember when Jesus cleaned lepers in the Bible, he asked them to go to the High Priest to certify them clean of leprosy. Those who survived this accident should be taken to undergo scans to ascertain if there are undiscovered internal injuries and the extent of such injuries. That's what they should have done instead of stupidity snapping pictures. |

May God grant their soul an eternal rest and console the families. And a quick recovery to others. Most high way drivers are blood suckers and they don't care. I advice, if you are on a public transport and you notice the reckness way of the driver, please caution him and if he refuses, just ask to be dropped. IT IS BETTER TO BE LATE THAN LATE. May God keep us all alive this year and other years ahead. |
