i kind of agree, i'm yoruba and i notice that yoruba are really big on respecting your elders even if the elders don't respect u , i hate that |
Re: We Have "deculture" Our Culture! by OmoEko1(f): 10:43pm On May 23, 2007 |
omogenaija:You are so right there and it has gotten to a point if you are rude to me then I don’t give you no respect, will never call you aunty, uncle or use Sir or Ma. I don't go on my knee to greet nobody expect my parent which is very rare. |
Re: We Have "deculture" Our Culture! by omogenaija(f): 10:48pm On May 23, 2007 |

Re: We Have "deculture" Our Culture! by OmoEko1(f): 10:53pm On May 23, 2007 |
omogenaija:I wonder oh everyone know me has the rude girl who cares I will not go on my knee for anyone until my wedding day . But my parents don't really bother about the kneeling down part. The worst thing is when you go to Naija party and they expect you to knee down and greet everyone , me sha i just say hello and keep walking. |

omogenaija:Rude is there favorite word even they’ve give up on me since they know am never going to change. But whenever am trying to ignore the greeting, i either use my cell phone has an excuse or put a big frown on my face to keep them away from me. |

lol i just pretend that i'm in a rush , and i hate when my mom's friends come to my house and think that i'm their maid , that one should be considered rude |
Re: We Have "deculture" Our Culture! by Ynot(m): 11:03pm On May 23, 2007 |
IMHO, no one has decultured is that even a word? our culture. Things change and so should we. I'm sure it was once cultural to sacrifice human to the gods. There are things you just have to get rid of. I particularly find the kneeling down greeting funny but again thats someone's culture. |
Re: We Have "deculture" Our Culture! by OmoEko1(f): 11:07pm On May 23, 2007 |

Omo Eko: You should satisfy your hubby at home. American girls only need to be properly decieved in order to get something. Men have ways with every type of woman, so please dont try and bring down naija girls |

@post while holding one's culture up and being proud of it is totally right but you have to be aware that harbouring some sort of disdain for these cultures didnt start with the individual the oba,obi or emir who are supposed to be the custodians of culture going to aso rock to collect bribes and oil blocks and supporting corruption, aiding and abetting thugs stealing ballot boxes e.t.c you think anyone wont talk about them with disdain? also, globalisation and a shift from the traditional governance to relatively modern governance( meant after the advent of the white ppl)has made a lot of these stuffs obsolete, the government as well, the point of my preamble is that there are a whole of people you can blame for the disdain for culture before getting to the individuals, and with these reasons and more you ll find its not actually our faults for the criticisms and disdain for these cultures |
