The Manchester derby has always been one of the biggest fixtures on the calendar but it means more than ever to both clubs with City emerging as potential challengers to United’s crown as the best team in the city.

City’s form at home is reasonable with three wins and a draw from five, but they have scored only seven goals at Eastlands and, on their last appearance there, lost 3-0 to title rivals Arsenal.

United could be leading the Premier League but for their away form. Though they are unbeaten on their travels, four draws from five has cost them eight points.

In this fixture last season, City came close to a draw but lost 1-0 with a last minute winner from Paul Scholes.
