Can I get 3applause for this directive.

This is long over due, there should be a mix of native language and lingua franca in teaching.

Some people who are perceived as unintelligent are only like that cos they can't comprehend what is taught in English.

Use mother tongue to explain same thing to them and you will marvel at their assimilation.

I remember a professor at Lasu engineering used to teach us circuit diagram in yoruba, it was all fun but in exam hall, you will hear the yoruba examples resonating over the margins you read all night

This is the only way to accelerate education in rural areas. English should be learned as means of communication and not for learning. Literacy ought to be in the local language and all other languages should be learned just for the purpose of communication. This is a laudable development and it is long overdue! I wonder what our education policy makers have been thinking all these years!

It's a great initiative. Teaching them in their native language at their formative years will go a long way in making them assimilate whatever is being taught both now and in the future...

The truth is that it’s good and bad at the same time..

Good because it will enhance learning and understanding..

Bad because it will be difficult for such students to compete internationally when he/she only understands hausa..

Seems waec question will be set in hausa too..

No doubt ur correct but the problem is that yobe is not Lagos or some part of Nigeria where English or pidgin is used at all. So what do you think will happen to such students when they leave north??

That's a wonderful idea the pupils will learn and comprehend very quickly.

Many government schools in SE and SW used their respective languages to teach students and use it as means of communication.

This is very good. Hausa language is the 11th most spoken language in the World. Why do we have to adopt foreign yeye English. Developed Industrialised Nations of G7 + China +Russia + India use their own languages

So after learning in Hausa.... they will remain in the north forever or what? Teach children as many languages as you can , their brain accumulates faster @ that stage. .....since they are being prepared for the outside world

That doesn't make sense in a country of 250 different languages. The way it was done before is OK. Make learning of one local language compulsory till end of secondary school.Nigeria school curriculum should be uniform all through the country
