Buy a nigerian used 2002-2005 Highlander. You have to be patient and check the cars thoroughly.
Be on the lookout for accidented cars though and smoking engines, oil drips or smears. Etc. Take the car to a pit for proper inspection then at least a 10km ride Each way to be safe.

Don't mind them. People with little or no experience on vehicles be out there regurgitating the illiterate knowledge about cars that they heard from one Tao and Muftau that did not even finish primary six before going to learn work as mechanics. It's poverty and lack of exposure that would make any body utter the statement "it's either Toyota or nothing". Let God give you grace to drive solid SUVs and you'd know Toyota is nothing compared to the likes of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Land Rover products.

It is a nice car but it has the following issues in my opinion:

1. Very Very poor fuel economy
2. The HMI on the dashboard is very sensitive to heat. You would need a spare one when it eventually blanks out.
3. The leather quality is quite poor.
4. Driver’s seat is not really comfortable.

If you can deal with these, then you are good to go. Be warned that it’s second value is almost none existent here in Nigeria. So you would have to take care of it in order to have a good chance of selling it; but it doesn’t sell quickly.
