Some people from the south West always talk down on South East that South East has no mineral resources and I laugh at their ignorance, one thing they don't know is that oil was discovered in a huge commercial quantity in South East, but for fear of Biafra, federal government put those areas on a strategic reserve, 90% of South East oil hasn't been touched the oil in South East will be equal to that of niger Delta if fully explored

Jarus, can tell us a bit more? Are the new company planning to expand production? Are there concerns amongst staffs of a possible retrenchment? Are the new company labour friendly? Do they process driven? What are the in house feelers?

No idea. Please refer to official communication here.

We have acquired a business with great people and a strong set of exploration , appraisal , development and production assets which are expected to be highly cash flow generative for the company .”

Southeast in this sense means "South East of Niger Delta", not the geopolitical South East.

The company's assets are in Akwa Ibom state which is still South South (geopolitically) but South East of Niger Delta.

That said, there are oil assets in the geopolitical South East too (eg Anambra Basin).

Geographically akwaibom is located in the southeast. The one we have here is political division. They are referring to it geographically

The oil industry isn't for the faint hearted.

The production cost per barrel for most oil firms is below $20. While they sell above $50. So they make over profit. They and the Nigerian government are just too exceptionally greedy. Otherwise 90% of oil casual workers are supposed to be staffed, with full healthcare and pension benefits.

So don't be deceived, oil companies are making it.

Are you aware 2 south East States Abia and IMO are part of Niger Delta? Yes it was added by president Obasanjo, including Benin and Ondo are all Niger Delta

In the 70s oil was discovered in large quantity in Anaku town and Anambra basin but was put on strategic reserves by FG the oil in both Abia and imo hasn't been explored to its full potential, the crude oil in ebonyi has even been scratched

Stop pulling figures you cannot corroborate yet passing it around as fact.

"The firm said its liquidity was severely affected by a range of external factors, including loss of material cash flow from its Strategic Alliance Agreement since February 2016 because of recurrent militant activity that resulted in the closure of Forcados export terminal , and a significant backlog of unpaid invoices relating to the supply of gas to federal and state -owned power stations."

See what Nigerians did to a Nigerian company. Now the company has been bought over by a foreigner. I guess the militants are happy now. There will be Britons to kidnap. Lazy set of people.

So you think oil multinationals will display their facts on internet or You expect me to show you clandestined documents.
Anyways for your information, oil companies are threatening to quit not because of profit but greed. Aren't you aware of the Offshore and inland basin Production sharing contract signed recently by Buhari in England. Please find out the details of the production sharing contract. You will know that production is below $20 per barrel

Ignorance is a disease. So there are still people in 2019 that believe every single headline that they read. Jisos!

Let me educate you. This coy belongs to kola aluko who siphoned at least a billion dollars of our money and ran away mid 2014. He is still on the run

Pls grow up and stop depending on fake headlines to discover what is happening under your nose

As a nation all this kind of report should worry us, 'cause we need to be promoting privatization and indigenization, we can't afford all this companies founded outside the country taking over our industries here.
They can come over and start businesses but not taking over most of our indigenous company. The government needs to put in place policies, financial assistance to indigenous companies to assist them.

like the narrative said the company heavily supplied a particular set of customers that is notorious for not paying her supplier on time and was further constrained by inability to export to other customers...

moral of the story do not rely on one customer and always have options for critical lifeline..

I'm much interested in the price it was sold for.

Seven Energy is majority-owned by Phillip Iheanacho. Aluko is a minority owner...

IOCs in Nigeria have some of the most bloated staff profiles globally...

IOCs carry way TOO MANY local "yoots" on their books, some of whom do not even bother to show up for work (in which case the self-anointed "yoot-leaders" collect their pay monthly on their behalf...wink,wink). Added to the NDDC tax (or euphemistically labelled a 'contribution'), the Education Tax, the Corporate Tax, the Petroleum Profit Tax, and the various Community MOUs, it is not surprising that many of the major IOCs are reducing their exposure to Nigeria, if not divesting altogether. Sadly, Nigeria and many Nigerians have a "penny-wise, pound-foolish" mentality.

Oga, the fields being referred to in this news are in Akwa Ibom state. You can't know more than me on this piece of news because I'm part of the subject matter.

On Anambra Basin, if you read my earlier posts on this subject, you will see me mention Anambra Basin.

No, the company does not belong to Kola Aluko. He exited in 2011 to found another company, Atlantic Energy, which has since collapsed.
