Onitsha Mmili was known as Ado N'Idu by migrants who departed from the vicinity of the Kingdom of Benin near the far western portion of Igboland (near what is now Agbor), after a violent dispute with the Oba of Benin that can be tentatively dated to the early 1500s.[5] Th

You just had to edit Wikipedia to spread your lies afonja grin
Founded by benin's yet I've hardly come across a Benin person there talkless a community and there exist no history of it being conquered by igbos.Even awka ibom,Calabar, porthharcourt and much of Delta - these were founded and first settled by igbos but now largely been occupied by various migrant tribes over the years, you still will find large Igbo presence and communities there all still indicative of its Igbo foundations.
Not a day passes without your absurd claims.
You guys are just sick.

Oduduwa was the last born of Eri but because of his devilish character he was sent packing before he established the Yoruba race.

This must be a joke...

Founded by Benin yet the most prominent outside culture seen in onitsha is the Nri culture, centuries older than Benin.

You have to remember that, verified by British and Portuguese migrants to Nigeria, that Nri people were so influential that they were called to oversee the crowning of kings over many kingdoms in southern Nigeria.

They immigrated and settled in many places as well. The most likely story is that descendants of Nri priests/migrants in Benin after an argument with the Benin royal court returned back to Igboland and reacculturated to Igbo customs. Much like many Egyptians left Greco-Roman occupied Egypt to Nubia.

Hence the reason that Onitsha culture and language is completely Igbo without traces of Benin influence.

This major migration happened around the 15-1600s which coincides with Nri’s decline in power in southern Nigeria and the Benin empire’s rising influence.

Igbos living in Benin, being mostly descendants of Nri people, seeing this, might have decided returning to Igboland was the most economically sound decision. The ones who stayed were absorbed into the Benin population.

Eze Chima Obatala (founder of Onitsha (Orissa)) Ado, was one of the sons of Obatala Oreluere of Ife. He was also titular Prince of Benin.

The Ooni of Ife has confirmed what many Igbo and Yoruba historians have been saying: the Obatalas were Igbos. They were Igbos from the Nri area.
