Within Iran, there won't be unity of purpose in terms of escalating the the retaliation up to an open war level. Why? It's because there are "two parallel powers" in the country. The fundamentalists led by Khameini control the army and run most of the external relations. This group lacks popular mandate. Their leaders aren't chosen by the populace, who, by the way, would fight the war if it comes. Another of the parallel power within Iran is the government led by the president. This president has less control of the army and foreign affairs. On many occasions, the presidency have disagreed with the clerics. In fact the president, Rhouhani and his foreign affairs minister won't even be too angered by the assassination. The above is for within Iran. Next party that can make it escalate to guerre mondiale is the Islamic world. But in this, Iran is leading the less powerful sect- The Shia. And its rival, the Sunni has always expressed its wish to suppress it. The activities of bin Salman of KSA, UAE... etc against Iran and her allies show this.. Then comes the third party that can escalate it- China & Russia. China can't outrightly go for an open war with a superpower now, she sees herself as yet to mature. So there is no need to abort her growth and development for now. Russia may have what it takes to covertly attack superpowers, to defend herself but she can't last in long open war with a superpower. I doubt if it's economy is larger than that of Califonia |

The Iranians are divided long ago and can only unite if all of them can come under the president which is impossible. Come to Iraq, the iraqis are also divided and some are even rejoicing that he died. The islamic world are also divided, some even want iran to be wipe out. Forget it, nothing will happen!!! Iran talk too much, let her face it. US can only loose some soldiers, but iran will loose all, includibg allies and eveen its teritory |

In the other hand Iran military don't have the capability to resist US assault because to neutralize a US military vehicle is not small task |
