Intellectual Humility (& islamic Quotes) by azharuddin: 2:34am On Dec 05, 2010 |
To everyone out there, take a look at this video by brother Nouman. Just because we learnt the Quran or few Hadith doesnt qualify us to make our own opinions or argue about the religion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftp2qRg2xz4 Lets all not forget that Iblees was thrown out of heaven because of his arrogance. He disobeyed Allah when he commanded him to prostate to Adam (alayhi salaam) due to his arrogance. Surat Al-A’raaf, Verse (12),"…I am better than him (Adam), you created me from fire, and you created him from clay." Allah knows best. Save us from falling into the trap of our own arrogance, Include us in the group of your humblest slaves. Ameen. |

Jazak Allah Kheir I agree with the speaker that one should be careful to pass judgment on people of knowledge I also agree about the need to be humble and not to rely on translations and to learn Arabic it is incumbent upon all Muslims to learn Arabic and its not difficult so they can appreciate the Koran in its language it is very critical to know that one Arabic word might be translated in English and still not convey the very similar meaning In Arabic for example the Arabic words Fikr, fikh , fahm aql etc usually translated by understanig which is not the exact corresponding word to them and sometimes the Arabic word has no match or counter part in any language |

As a scholar once said: "The believer speaks little, but does much. And the hypocrite talks a lot, but does little. The believer's speech is wisdom, his silence is contemplation, his gaze is pondering, his actions are righteous. So if this is your state, you shall perpetually be in worship" - Fudayl bin Iyyad |

Seek (beneficial) knowledge, because seeking it for the sake of Allaah is a worship. And knowing it makes you more God-fearing; and searching for it is jihad, teaching it to those who do not know is charity, reviewing and learning it more is like tasbeeh. Through knowledge Allaah will be known and worshipped." -Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) |

Du'aa is like a weapon, and a weapon is only as good as the person using it; it is not merely the matter of how sharp it is. If the weapon is perfect and free of faults, and the arm of the person using it is strong, and there is nothing stopping him, then he can lay waste the enemy. But if any of these three features is lacking, then the effect will be lacking accordingly. - Ibn Qayyim |
