The Nigeria Football Federation technical commitee chairman, Barrister Chris Green, has issued a notice to former Nigerian international Austin Okocha to attend the committee’s meeting next week or ceases being a member.

Okocha is among the people appointed by the Alhaji Aminu Maigari NFF board as member of the technical committee but the ex-Super Eagles midfielder, who was conspicuously absent at the committee’s inauguration has consistently stayed away from their meetings without explanation.

Apparently dissatisfied with the continuous absence of Okocha from the committee’s meetings, the former Rivers state commissioner for sports told SuperSport.com on Wednesday that former Bolton player’s absence will no longer be tolerated and that if he fails to attend its meeting next week he should consider himself no more member of the committee.

“Okocha has not attended any of our meetings and he has not given any reason, even at the day of inauguration he was not there, so how will we continue to see him as our member.

“We will be having our meeting next week and if he did not attend the meeting he should consider himself out of the committee.”

Green equally took time too to debunk the insinuation that the committee has narrowed down its choice of assistants to the quartet of Monday Odigie, Emmanuel Amuneke, Emeka Ezeugo and Peter Rufai.

“We have not shortlisted anybody. In fact, there is no list, it is mere speculation. We will not do anything in a hurry, we are meeting next week, we will mention it but nobody, no name is before us at the moment.

“We want to be thorough, Nigeria deserves the best, and we will take our time to give her the best. We will resist every pressure that will make us take hasty decision,” he said.

NFF never contacted me on Tech Committee — Okocha

A former captain of the Super Eagles Austin Okocha has said that the Nigeria Football Federation has never made any contact with him concerning his membership of the federation‘s Technical Committee. Okocha made contact with our correspondent via text messages.

The name of the former Bolton Wanderers captain was amongst those released to the media by the NFF as members of the committee. But since the names of the committee members headed by Mr Chris Green were made public, Okocha has never attended any of their sittings including the one that produced Samson Siasia as the coach of the Eagles.

”I never received any thing (letter) from them (NFF),” Okocha said.

Following his refusal to attend meetings since the committee began sitting, his membership has been a subject of debate. On Friday, the chairman of the committee Mr Green was quoted as saying that the retired footballer will cease to be a member if he fails to attend their next meeting. But the former PSG of France midfielder told our correspondent that the threat and every detail about his membership remains news to him.

“I didn‘t hear anything about that, not even from the NFF,” he said.

Okocha was one of the retired footballers that tried to get into the federation when the last election was conducted in Abuja. He has maintained his stand that the whole process was not fair but some of those that were initially vocal about the conduct of the election have joined the NFF team through committees.
