Four years ago, January 30, 2016, Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Lovén was photographed giving water to a severely emaciated 2-year-old boy, who she rescued after he was branded a witch by his family and left to starve to death in Akwa Ibom.

The child wandered the streets for months when Anja got a phone call and immediately led a rescue team including her husband David Emmanuel Umem, to bring the child to the Children's Education and Development Foundation (ACAEDF) aka "Land of Hope" named after the boy.

On Thursday, January 30, 2020, Anja posted new photos of Hope to mark the anniversary.

It's quite unfortunate that the idea of calling innocent children witches and wizards emanates from many pastors and alfas. It is those pastors and alfas that call the innocent children witches and wizards first. They tell the children's parents first.

From there, the parents and other people in the society label the children the same. Many innocent children have been killed. There is one popular female pastor in the south who specializes in calling innocent children witches and wizards.

Those pastors and alfas are the cause of the problem. Government should do something about those useless pastors and alfas.

From his appearance today, is he still a witch? No wonder Africa is still centuries backward!

Just 4 years ago... That is exactly 2016!!!

Meaning, in 2016, when nations were already building robots and talking cleaner energy or electricity powered vehicles, a certain state in a certain country was still starving kids to death because they believe they are "witches"!!! Sigh!!!

There are many religious people in that community that saw him and looked the other way while some of them will even see the tattoos in the Danish lady body and call her a sinner and prostitute. She is my hero and a true evangelist. God bless you ma.

Tears fell from my eyes as I watch the transformation of this little boy. May the Good Lord bless this Danish woman and her generation, amen. I cannot imagine how archaic and backward some people can be. Branding a 2 year old boy a witch and left to starve and die. This is unbelievable! Now that the boy is alive probably the woman may decide to take him abroad for schooling. His parents will start looking for him immediately they know that the boy is outside the country’s. Yeye people!

We Africans are hypocrites!!! Many would have passed this boy by without looking back,now they are here on Nairaland pretending to be angels. . There is no love in this part of the world. In a country where thousand of churches are, none of these churches and their members could save this boy, until a foreigner shew up. It is a big shame to every Nigerian and the government.
