I think this ban is a good thing in disguise for Nigeria, what is the marginal benefits of Nigerians traveling to America to Nigerian economy? The privileged Nigerians traveling to America are probably taking their manpower and skills and money to the country. No one should castigate Nigerian president for this, Trump is known for his irrational foreign policy, all he cares about is bringing money to America, no international diplomacy of any sort. Imagine Trump's trade secretary Will Brow saying the current coronavirus in China is a good thing for America because it will help bring more jobs to American economy, how nihilistic can people be because of economic gains? Nigerians should sit their asses up and start working together for common good, and stop blaming government for everything. China, even despite a communist state it is, is not where China is today because of Chinese government but for the commitment and contribution of each Chinese people to their country. This "it is not my business" attitude by Nigerians will not take Nigeria anywhere, now it is your business when your country is banned from entering the USA. This is an opportunity for self reflection for Nigerians to sit back and ask the question why they think it is only by traveling out of the country they can achieve a good life for themselves. Then they can start seeing where the problem is coming from and owning up for their country downfall and not putting the blame on government.

This is the best comment I have read your on this topic but unfortunately a lot Nigerians here will not reflect on this, instead they will throw abuses.

let the world powers ban nigerians let us all return home and build our own land.. we have engineers doctors, architecs, builders, administrators, farmers , artisans and the likes what's stops us from being self sufficient or make do with what we have and pay the price on our way to self sufficiency. if every skilled nigerian in d globe come back home we would be unstoppable as a nation. but who would bell the cat

Any opportunity to insult Bihari, people will use it.....The chief reason they banned immigration from Nigeria is because of our huge Islamic presence foisted by the extremists/terrorists,and the fact that Nigerians who go there on temporary visas end up staying permanently in an illegal manner.the latter reason shows that we are our own problem, not buhari.or is it Buhari that overstayed his visa?.let's be rational and reasonable. And we all know trump would find any reason to stop immigration totally. How about the Nigerian fraudsters making negative names and bringing disrepute to Nigeria, blame those fuckers first.buhari ain't the problem

If not because we have a useless govt

By now the American ambassador would have been summoned to Aso Rock to explain his actions

The president would have called donald trump to ask why he thought this was a good idea to go with

The president would have put out a statement saying the economy interest of all americans in nigeria and africa is at stake by this decision

The worse is also thereatning to ban all visitors from american into nigerian soil too in tit for tat

Something that you will do that even Donald Trump will know that you are serious and you are not a mumu

Nigerians go there and over stay visa

It’s no longer news that the United States has imposed restrictions on the issuance of immigrants visa on Nigerian passport holders, together with a few other countries. The implication of this is while you can visit the U.S. for temporary stay, you can no longer obtain visas that can lead to permanent residence until the issues that led to the restriction in the first place are addressed.

Whilst some persons may consider this an unfortunate development, I believe a lot of Nigerians including myself, think this is a great opportunity to have a rethink and go back to the drawing board. It’s not always about Trump. He has every right to implement policies that he thinks will be beneficial to his country!

An important question at this point is ‘which Nigerians migrate’? Excluding the extremely poor, poorly educated and the vulnerable who migrate, perhaps for ‘better economic opportunities’; the average Nigerian migrants via the legal channel are the rich or at least the comfortable, well-educated whom the receiving countries would consider a great addition to their economies. This partly applies to those who join family members overseas. This, perhaps, explains why Nigeria has the most educated immigrant population in the United States.

The forgoing is a reminder that whether you are a rich, comfortable, poor, educated, or non-educated Nigerian, the only place you can call home is ‘Nigeria’. Nigeria is rich and big enough for all Nigerians. Unless you have family overseas, your only business abroad should be for temporary stay. Personally, I don’t see much difference between living in some places in Abuja or Lagos and living abroad.

Bros, blame it on that old man in Abuja. They have no respect for him whatsoever and that's his own doing. Upon all the travelling up and down, we still get banned like the 4th world country he portrayed us to be.

Buhari should only rule the Abokis who thinks like him . His backwardness has put us in this shitty situation. He is worse than any President we've had. He's nothing but a bully. He wants the world to believe he's a noble man but nah, he's far from it and when he leaves, the new administration shall expose his excesses as well.

I don't know what I was thinking to have voted for this kinda human being. Took my dear Nigeria back to stone age.

Only if everyone with kids there will recall their kids. Apoarently nigetian students spend 518 million dollars a year on school in america.
We buy so many things at retail level when visiting thar is counted as American bought.
From food to take back home clothes electronics.
When nigeriand in America send money to nigeria America counts it as remittence. When a lot of it is commerce. Go on instagram
Folk in new jersey will be ordering ogobono from surulere to be shipped to jersey
Orders for agbalumo sef de. Cray fish yam snail all shipped from naija to u.s so all that money no be remittance
Nigeriand that can afford to boycott and go to other countries should. But let us not pretend that traveling isnt importsnt to us a people. There arent a lot of out of work fun or shopping and things like that to do. We save up and enjoy our vacations so much so Americans are convinced we stole the money we saved for s year to come spend there in.

Why must we prostrate for America, the question is are all Nigerians banned even if going there is for legitimate reason, like going to study, medical, business etc? And not the ones that go just for the sole reason of paying visit and put to birth for the purpose of the child's America citizenship. These Most time abscond when there time is due. America will not stop anybody going there with very clear reason expect from their experience now, your visit is questionable and must be properly scrutinized.

God bless Nigeria.
Larryfest:
So Canada and Nigeria dey the same level right Our federal government better start prostrating to them so they can have mercy on Nigeria because the way things are going so many countries will still ban us.
