Whether it’s a job interview or a first date, during stressful situations most people will admit to getting a little bit sweaty.

And while a report this week claimed that Mark Zuckerberg uses a hairdryer to deal with his sweat patches, it seems that many people are looking at more drastic measures.

A new procedure called miraDry is gaining popularity in the UK, as people seek permanent solutions for their armpit sweat.

Dr Benji Dhillon, founder of Define Clinic, which offers the treatment, explained: “Blow drying your armpits will only dry off the sweat that is sitting on your skin under your arms, but will not stop the sweating process.

“However, as we all know, when we are anxious or in stressful situations we tend to get more sweaty which can lead to uncomfortable sweat patches.

“miraDry is a revolutionary treatment to non-invasively reduce sweating under the arms permanently - reducing or stopping sweat patches and therefore making people feel more comfortable and confident.”

The miraDry system uses thermal energy to target and permanently eliminate the sweat and odour glands in your underarms.

Patients first have their underarms numbed, before a temporary tattoo is applied to the skin to outline the treatment area.

Next, the doctor holds up a handheld thermal device to the area, which provides slight suction to the armpit before thermal energy is delivered.

According to miraDry, the procedure is painless and takes less than an hour to complete.

Arun Sandhu, founder of a digital production agency in London, underwent the treatment ahead of his wedding this year.

Speaking to Mirror Online, he said: “I’m getting married this year and despite sweat patches bothering me all my life, I definitely did not want those patches bothering me on my wedding day, particularly as we are getting married in Turkey during the summer.”

Following his treatment, Mr Sandhu claims that he’s ‘not touched a deodorant since.’

He added: “The miraDry treatment has truly changed my life. I haven’t touched deodorant since I had it. I have literally been able to wear colours I was never able to wear before.”

While the treatment sounds pretty appealing, it comes with a hefty price tag.

Prices start at £1,495, and may be even higher, depending on the number of treatments needed.

There are also several side effects associated with the procedure, including soreness, swelling, and even the risk of short-term altered sensation in the skin.

Despite this, miraDry is proving very popular, with the treatment having been used over 155,000 time worldwide to date.
