Corona Virus: What To Do If You Have It by safarigirl(f): 10:21am On Mar 23, 2020
I came across this post on Twitter, from @Savagekizz

With the increase in cases in Nigeria, it is becoming clearer that more people may have it than we know. Not everyone can afford healthcare, or will have access to the tests.

So, these are a few tips on what to do, if you have any symptoms.

No be everytime "Wash hand, Use sanitizer"....most people will get it, despite these measures. It is best to know what to do when washing hands won't do.

COVID-19
Finally, some sensible advice from a Nurse

“What I have seen a lot of are recommendations for how to try to avoid getting coronavirus in the first place -- good hand washing, personal hygiene and social distancing -- but what I have NOT seen a lot of is advice for...what happens if you actually get it.

So as your friendly neighborhood Nurse let me make some suggestions:

You basically just want to prepare as though you know you’re going to get a nasty respiratory bug, like bronchitis or pneumonia. Just have the foresight to know it...‘might’ come your way!

1. Things you should actually buy ahead of time (not sure what the obsession with toilet paper is?):
- Kleenex,
- Paracetamol,
- whatever your generic, mucus thinning cough medicine of choice is (check the label and make sure you're not doubling up on Paracetamol)
- Honey and lemon can work just as well!
- Vick vaporub for your chest is also a great suggestion.

2. If you don’t have a humidifier, that would be a good thing to buy and use in your room when you go to bed overnight. (You can also just turn the shower on...hot and sit in the bathroom breathing in the steam).

3. If you have a history of asthma and you have a prescription inhaler, make sure the one you have isn’t expired and refill it/get a new one if necessary.

4. This is also a good time to meal prep: make a big batchof your favorite soup to freeze and have on hand.

5. Stock up on whatever your favorite clear fluids are to drink - though plain water is fine you may appreciate some variety!

SYMPTOM MANAGEMENT:
1. If you have a fever over 38°c, take Paracetamol rather than Ibuprofen.
2. Hydrate (drink!) hydrate, hydrate!
3. Rest lots. You should not be leaving your house! Even if you are feeling better you may will still be infectious for fourteen days and older people and those with existing health conditions should be avoided!
4. Ask friends and family to leave supplies outside to avoid contact.

You may not NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL unless you are having trouble breathing or your fever is very high (over 39°C) and unmanaged with meds. 90% of healthy adult cases thus far have been managed at home
with basic rest/hydration/over-the-counter meds.

BUT CALL: 080097000010
Wherever you are in Nigeria, That’s the number to call,
IF you suspect any Coronavirus.
It is toll-free, no charges.
and they will advise if you need to go to hospital...

EXISTING MEDICAL ISSUES
If you have a pre-existing lung condition (COPD, emphysema, lung cancer) or are on immunosuppressants, now is a great time to talk to your Doctor or specialist about what they would like you to do if you get sick...

CHILD MANAGEMENT: It has been found that kids usually bounce back in a few days if exposed to the virus (but they will still be infectious), Just use pediatric dosing and call the emergency nos.

Be calm, pray and prepare rationally and everything will be fine.

Also, wear a facemask (even a home-made face mask or a hankerchief tied over your nose and mouth is better than nothing) and keep a good distance if you must interact with people or go outside. Do not take off the mask to talk to anyone; this defeats the purpose of wearing it.

What to do indeed!!

Once I get it, I'll travel down to Lagos, Onitsha main market and Ariaria Aba, I'll start touching and shaking everybody with style.

I'm kind and don't want to go to heaven alone.

The face mask is not really to prevent infections. If it was that good for it, it would have been a recommendation. It isn't.

We understand that the Coronavirus situation will only get worse if the Nigerian government is not proactive in ordering a lockdown. Let's avoid overwhelming our health care officials and hospitals by forcefully asking everyone to stay home. We need to deal with this sooner than later...Even if we complain of hunger now, the truth is if we don't take care of this now we will still get to deal with hunger. We need to learn from other countries, We need to act NOW!!

(We need your signatures)

Can you help get my petition to 99 signatures by the end of today? I started a petition and I need you to sign and share it now.

If you are healthy, the Coronavirus may not kill you, so there’s no need for suicide. The WHO is conducting trials of 4 drugs as we speak.

I doubt if there will be any possible breakthrough soon.

Scientists and medical experts have been working hard to develop HIV drugs for years with no success yet.

Anytime you have fever take that is just your immune system is fighting foreign bodies while you be d one suffering (when FG n ASUU de fight na student de suffer) so taking all did painkillers aren't necessary except your body temp..is above 38.
Stay healthy and build your immune system, I tell you malaria and typhoid pass Corona. Shey oyinbo and Chinko pple de get malaria/typhoid.
Ginger, garlic spiced pepper soup, vitamin c fruits if need be malaria treatment every 4weeks will go a long way.
If breathing is somehow, steam urself over aboniki water....corana will come n go
