JAMB Arrests 149 Candidates For UTME Fraud by ORIENTATION101: 7:38am On Mar 24, 2020
JAMB published the names and states of the 149 candidates in its weekly bulletin obtained by our correspondent with Imo, Anambra and Enugu States topping the list with 26, 12 and 12 candidates respectively.

The offences included; examination by proxy, attempt to cheat, forceful entrance, tampering with examination documents, smuggling of mobile phones into the examination halls among others.

Other states on the list included; Abia, Adamawa, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kwara, Ondo, Oyo, and Osun.

The board said, “Examination Infraction in the UTME is declining with the 2020 experience. However, out of the 1,945,983 million candidates who sat the examination, prima facie cases of examination misconduct have been made against the following 149 candidates.

“The board has successfully concluded the conduct of the 2020 UTME. The examination was concluded in most states on Thursday, March 19. Also, 10 other states completed on Saturday, March 21, while Bayelsa with only four approved Computer-Based Test centres after a number of the centres have been delisted for one infraction or the other had to complete its examination on Sunday based on an understanding with stakeholders in Bayelsa not to extend the examination beyond Sunday.

“The examination earlier scheduled for Monday was then shifted to Sunday to be conducted in the four centres. Out of 1, 945,983 candidates who took the examination nationwide, about 0.3 per cent were absent.

And put them in which prison? undecided
I thought making the exam computer base was a way to curb malpractice, how did they maneuver it? Most times actions like this are birthed out of frustration, although it doesn't justify their actions.

So almost 2 million sat for JAMB, that figure is too high for a country where there is no Job. Almost a million will graduate every year........It's time we Africans wake up. Gone are those days where jobs are waiting for you immediately you graduate. But the current system of Education is no more working.........We are now in a world that will only pay you for what you are offering or made up of. It's high time we turn every of our ideas into reality. God will also save us from lazy Youth

Before I forget God will save us all from Covik 1-9 birus

This is really sad. Many youths are becoming too lazy to read and prepare for UTME. The same UTME that has become cheap over the advent of the CBT tests.
It is very unfortunate.

of all the offences named, only no1 stands out to be an offence, ie examination by proxy, others are mere issues that can be corrected right inside the examination centre, JAMB always frustrating Nigerians since inception

JAMB should suspend/ban candidate guilty of infringement like they won't be able to attempt the exam for the next one or five years, serious breaches can have like ten years ban

I'm more interested in that last line:

"Out of 1, 945,983 candidates who took the examination nationwide, about 0.3 per cent were absent."

How could they have taken the exam and still be absent?
