Is it biblical for you to cut your hair, or your fingernail which God created?
Re: ..... by newmi(m): 9:00am On Dec 31, 2010
Well the question should have been . "is it right for anybody to perm hair! Either male of female. Hair is hair. So if it is wrong for the female on the premise of touching Godly hair it is wrong for male also.
Re: ..... by VivianSA: 9:07am On Dec 31, 2010
Please poster leave Pastor Chris Oyakhilome alone. Was your question really neccessary in edifying your self in the knowledge of God and walk with Christ. I believe your question bears no significance to your knowlege of God and Christ but was asked to invite known critism to Pastor Chris.

If that was your goal, how wordly (carnal) your actions are.
Re: ..... by GoodBoi1(m): 9:13am On Dec 31, 2010
@poster
Is it biblical to comb hair?
If perming of hair is worth questioning then there are many other acts that follow.
Avoid disputes, focus on edification in faith. (1 Timothy 1:3-6)
Re: ..... by Joagbaje(m): 9:16am On Dec 31, 2010
Besides pastor chris does not perm his hair. There are different kinds of relaxers for men and for women , there are some for children too. Women use the perming relaxers, but there are different kits for men. Some people have natural stubborn hair, and the use of a relaxer to soften it is not a bad idea. It only make combing easier for those who care. There are other creams and relaxers for men such as sporting waves ,S Curls etc.  What you do with your hair is your business. God is not against curly hair. If he was he would not  made your hair curly when you were born

We have seen this going on among christians especially the christ embassy pastors, so am asking is it biblical

Is it Biblical to use the internet?

Is it Biblical to post on nairaland?

It seems like ''Is it Biblical'' wordplay.
Re: ..... by alexleo(m): 2:19pm On Dec 31, 2010
@poster,
if your intentions were genuine i would have made my stand about this known to you but since its coming from an atheist, then of course I know you are on to ridicule so i reserve my stand. If you were asking questions pertaning to the salvation of your soul, one will know that you are doing the first thing first. But now its a case of putting the first thing last and the last thing first.

Since we know the truth, why not say it out! We all know that is not morally advised for a christian figure like him to do so. Just look, all his pastors do the same even some church members the church now look like party hall.
Some ladies wear crazy trousers. All this are not good but since they were not banned from wearing such, the misuse the oppourtunity. As christians we ought to dress decently. Boys stop sagging to church, girls stops wearing crazy jean trousers to church.

It is 'NOT BIBLICAL', just like COMPUTERS, TVs and Mobile Phones! grin Maybe he likes his hair curly/permed/colored/shiny. So how does ANOTHER MAN'S 'TREATED' HAIR harm you or anybody around him? grin Maybe you should focus on your own SALVATION rather than somebody else's HAIR!  grin

I will start growing and perming my armpits' hair once I get off this computer! grin  . . .  and await your 'permed-hair police'  cool
Re: ..... by Kay17: 9:54am On Jan 01, 2011
The same bible was silent on smoking, moderate drinking, jeans for female, pornography. Clinical Weed those for cancer patients.Etc.

Joagbaje friend, u see; am not against curling of hair. One can curl his or her hair in a decent way.
But what am saying is that for a big pastor, that people model, to curl hair is not wise. Is he curling hair to look worldly or what. James 4:4b know ye not that the friendship of the world is enemity with God?.
The bible goes further to say that whoever wants to be world's friend makes himself God's enemy.
There is one gay guy in our street he use to curl his hair and always walk like females. Now if u see him and a pastor who curls hair u can hardly say this one pastor and this one gay.
Yes i like ur pastor's message but that curl hair, is minus one.
Ok. U joa. If someone comes to preach to u with curled hair what goes to ur mind. U will quickly say this person is not real.
Just like lawyers have their own wear that quickly tell people that they are lawyers, footballers wear theirs, that u quickly know them when u see one. When u see a jehovah withness, their hand bags will tell u. Just like when u see a prostitute.
I know his ur pastor but, dont try to cover his wrongs just because of favoritism. Remember we are Christians.
Re: ..... by Joagbaje(m): 5:56pm On Jan 02, 2011
@PRINCE4CHRIST
I will ask you 2 questions and I want an honest answer.
1.Is it wrong to dye your hair black if it's losing color ?
2. when you were born, was your hair curly or coarse?
Re: ..... by fyneguy: 5:59pm On Jan 02, 2011
^^^^^ Yahoo boys use the internet. Hence you are ''worldly'' by using the internet. Stay away from the internet!

Romans 14:14
I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean  in itself; but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean.

Romans 14:22-23
22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God; happy is he who has no reason to judge himself for what he approves. 23 But he who has doubts is condemned, if he eats, because he does not act in faith; for whatever does proceed from faith is sin.
Re: ..... by paris10: 7:15pm On Jan 02, 2011
Some pastors and rev. in the US perm their hair. Oyak adores their style and inculcate it into his ministry. You have to look good for God and for the ladies. Those are the only reasons we guys do what we do, abi? Offering is good and tithe is better as long as you're a Pastor.
Re: ..... by PRINCE4CHRIST(m): 8:57pm On Jan 02, 2011
Joagbaje.
Is it not wrong to dye hair and when i was born i think my hair was curled as a little born child. I think i have answered ur question.
U remembered what i said, that am not against curling of hair but for a big pastor like him to do so is not wise.
1) Is he curling hair to look handsome or what?
2)what message is he sending by curling his hair?
3)Does he wants to tell God that he dont like the way He created his hair?
4)Is he not comfortable the way God created his hair?
5)Is he trying to tell Christian Nigerians to curl hair?.
Now answer me.
For Good boi u are talking off point please. Those scriptures u r quoting does not support ur claims pls.
Fyneguy, as ur name implies u r fine abi? With ur curl hair, hope u are not one of them. U are using internet to philosizie this topic pls try to be real.
Re: ..... by GoodBoi1(m): 9:24pm On Jan 02, 2011
I know it refers to eating meat sacrificed to idols; but from the last two verses it still applies to others.
It's a matter of conscience.
Read the whole chapter for better understanding.
Re: ..... by olubuffett: 4:52am On Jan 03, 2011
I beg live Pastor Chris alone, perhaps he did perm his hair in the 80s when his homies where doing it, the ones you should be concern with are the copy cats that as lost their identities.

Thats your religious mind and That's not the point, the question is simply if its right or wrong.

1) Is he curling hair to look handsome or what?

Same reason you cream and comb yours

2)what message is he sending by curling his hair?

The message he is sending is that he like Gods creation and he is maintaining it nicely.

3)Does he wants to tell God that he dont like the way He created his hair?
4)Is he not comfortable the way God created his hair?

He is actualy appreciating God for creating his hair curly by maintaining it that way. You yourself admitted your hair was created curly.or are you now contradicting yourself?
hen i was born i think my hair was curled as a little born child. I think i have answered your question.

5)Is he trying to tell Christian Nigerians to curl hair?.

it is every mans business how well you take care of your hair . There's no biblical creams revoke ded. Why fo you cut your own hair which God created? Because it's your choice . So it's hypocritical to point finger at another person that make himself look good the way he feels.
Re: ..... by SirJohn(m): 7:32am On Jan 03, 2011
I don't think this is an issue of what the bible says because the bible does not say anything explicitly about curling hair. I believe its more an issue of personal acceptance based on cultural backgrounds; let me explain:

Oyaks is from Edo state, a south south state in Nigeria and as many of you would know, from years back its always been a common and almost normal thing to see men straighten their hair or wear earrings in the then Bendel region. It did'nt start from Oyaks, Ayo Oritsejafor wore jerry curls in the early nineties (hes from Bendel/Delta state), Chris Okotie also had jerry curls (hes also from Bendel/Delta state) and some others I don't have their names.

In the southeast/southwest its a different thing altogether, as men curling their hair was seen and is still seen as a sign of irresponsibility. in the southeast especially, you can't woo a huge congregation if you have jerry curl on; no one will listen to you: thats why Oyaks does not have as much impact in most southeastern states compared to other places.

for me, I'm a little indifferent; Oyaks is a bundle of talents and thats what matters to me. But I have other reservations about him; sometimes I wonder how he feels sitting down under a hairdryer or having stuffs put on his hair all the time, I wonder if he will still be doing it when hes 60. just a thought grin grin

THERE AR SOME THINGS DAT AR NOT CLEARLY STATED IN D BIBLE (eg.permin of hair, smoking etc).AS A CHRISTIAN WN WE AR FACED WIT SUCH ISSUES,WE SHD ASK OURSELVES D FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
1.WIL D ACTION GLORIFY GOD?
2.WIL JESUS DO SUCH IF HE WERE HERE TODAY?
3.WIL D ACTION DRAW OTHERS TO GOD?
4.WIL D ACTION HAV GOOD EFFECT ON UR HEALTH?
IF D ANSWERS AR YES,THEN U CAN GO AHEAD AND DO SUCH IRRESPECTIVE WAT MAN WIL SAY.

I remember in the 80s pastor ayo oritshejafor used to wear a big Afro curl like the Jackson 5. In the days when men wear Afro with side burns, arch bishop had some side burns too. Fashion is a personal thing.

sometimes I wonder how he feels sitting down under a hairdryer or having stuffs put on his hair all the time

You don't have to be under dryer , that's womens affair, just get a soft relaxer, wash it off and you are like any other man, Except that your hair is softer to comb now. No need of messy oil dripping on chair like "COMING TO AMERICA" technology has improved .
Re: ..... by SirJohn(m): 11:38am On Jan 03, 2011
Joagbaje:

Agreed!

Joagbaje:

you missed it here, for Oyaks, it goes beyond soft relaxer and water; around 2000 to 2007 thereabout, Oyaks hair was fuller and he used a combination of relaxers, hair dye, styling gel and oils I'm sure he got uncomfortable with that cos his pillows would be messed up all night. Today, he wears low cuts and wouldn't need so much gel and oils. Meeeen!!! this guy get time o o o!!
