Op, you may be correct but I know two other SUVs that are also 'die hards' when it comes to labour, ruggedness & durability. They have withstood the test of time and they are also found in almost every part of the world including deserts, murky and muddy terrains. They never say no when duty calls and there is nothing like "no-go area" with them. They are no other but:
1. Land Rover Defender
2. Nissan Patrol

Talking about Japanese automobile brands generally, Nissan is not as popular as its Honda or Toyota counterparts, but truth is they did an excellent job with the Patrol model.

Hope you guys know that there are two models of LC's. The LC 200 civilian truck which our polithiefcians and top govt officials use and the hardcore bare bone more tougher LC70 series which the military, militia and International organizations uses? It is even more tough, more capable, more rugged and can take any form of abuse and still come out strong.

I don't know about the nissan but i can confidently say that the landrover is one of the most unreliable brand on the planet period. That brand is not reliable at all. Maybe the landrovers of the 70's were reliable but these days not anymore. The landcruiser is in a class of its own nothing else comes close
