Welcome to this series about MISTAKES TO AVOID WHEN SELLING ON WHATSAPP. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We have devoted the last couple of weeks to teaching about WhatsApp Marketing at our online classes. We have seen lots of great testimonials from almost everyone who has attended our classes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As we monitor the progress that each person is making in his/her efforts to market their products and services through the use of social media, and especially WhatsApp, we have, however, noticed some mistakes we’re making in the process.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today and in our subsequent posts, we will discuss these mistakes and how to avoid them, so that this strategy doesn’t backfire.

1. DON’T TRY TO SELL ALL THE TIME.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’ve given you a tip about sending interesting content. This should always be taken into account; after all, no one likes to be constantly bombarded with commercial proposals.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, think carefully before you send any messages to your contacts.
Even if your ultimate goal is to sell through WhatsApp, your audience needs to know that you wish to help them with practical solutions for everyday life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Share tips, information, and content that would benefit them and improve their life.
Therefore, don’t try to sell all the time. Be mindful and only send messages with truly interesting information.

2. DON’T CREATE GROUPS UNNECESSARILY.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As we discussed in our training on Introduction to WhatsApp Marketing, groups may be a very effective tool in reaching out to your prospects and existing clients, however, we encourage you to do less of it. Except if is extremely important, don’t create a WhatsApp group to promote your business. This may expose your contacts to a lot of privacy and security risks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Again, as we mentioned in our class, don’t EVER add people to a group without asking for their permission first. If you do, you may be at risk of being blocked or muted. This will again be counter-productive to whatever you are trying to achieve.

Once again, think twice before you set up a group. ⠀

3. DON’T LEAVE TOO MANY MESSAGES UNATTENDED TO:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As you are making efforts to get a lot of people to patronize your business through series of advertising and marketing campaigns, you must always bear it in mind that lots of people will be anxious to know more about your products and services. People will keep sending you messages, especially via WhatsApp because it’s free and easily accessible. Endeavor to read your messages as quickly as they come. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In case you are always busy and you wouldn’t be able to respond to your messages, you can make use of “quick replies” and “away messages”. These tools help you to instantly reply to messages whenever you’re away or unavailable.

4. NO SPAM. NO UNNECESSARY MESSAGES.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you noticed how annoying it is to receive a message with long texts that seem to have been copied and sent to all phone contacts, without having any relationship with the person who received it?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mass messages without any type of personalization are not interesting for this strategy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re not talking about writing completely different messages for each person, because we know that this is hard, especially if your number of customers is very high. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But you can – and should -, only send content that interests each user.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once again, if you have more than one product, you need to separate your contacts according to their interests in order to send content related to what they like.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In addition, avoid sending several messages during the day, one after the other. This might annoy your audience and even make people block your number.

5. DON’T BE INCONSISTENT:

As it is in every business and enterprise, success doesn’t and will never come overnight. You need to stay consistent with your brand, values, content and ideals. In WhatsApp marketing too, let your contacts see your consistency. They want to see how consistent you are in your service delivery, your message and all. Your logo, colors, status stories must be consistent over time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do this and you will see how the sales will start coming over time.
