Its no news that the Chelsea project has gone south, is it there to stay grin
Are we witnessing the end of the Roman renaissance? grin
This is Chelsea's worst run of results in recent times - 1 win in 10 league games - what do y'all think is responsible for these uncharacteristic displays of Chelsea?

Well, some blame it on the departure of Ray Wilkins but that is just laughable. Are people of this opinion implicitly saying that Carlo Ancelotti knows nothing? Or was Ray Wilkins his assistant when he won the Champions League for AC Milan in 2003 and 2007 and also the Scudetto in 2004?
Some also say the departure of Ballack, Belletti, Deco and Carvalho is responsible. Save for Ballack and Carvalho, how many games did the others play in?

I think the Law of Diminishing Returns has caught up with Chelsea. This is a systemic collapse. What they are going through is similar to what Germany went through after Euro '96 success and what Italy has been going through after their 2006 world cup win. Chelsea have amassed so much success with a team that was essentially built by Jose Mourinho and over the years, managers have come and gone but there have been very little changes to the team. The core of the team has more or less remained the same over the years. The problem is the lack of a succession plan. The squad has always lacked depth and they've failed to groom youngsters who can step in when all is going down
