Haba! This has nothing to do with Ramadan. The points have been well articulated by officials several times over. If you’ve been reading about cases that were publicized, you’ll understand that many now don’t know how and when they got infected. That’s community infection. Public transportation, markets, shopping malls, offices, hospitals, schools,Churches, Mosques, restaurants, hotels and clubs are places where many people can get infected at once. If we keep these places open when we have not tested a large number of people, we’ll be taking a huge risk. That’s what happened in Italy, Spain and US. In South Korea, it exploded when one infected person went to Church!

Honestly, I understand the hunger bit which is what I think we should address. Relaxing the lockdown now may not be in our best interests. We don’t have the facilities to cope with massive infection. Only when we survive can we reboot our economy.

People should help the less privileged as much as possible by providing food especially for them to stay at home. I’ve realized that toiletries are much needed too.

May God help us fight our battle against this unseen enemy. Amen

Well said.

The only lockdown goverment is supposed to lift is lockdown on nusery, secondary, and primary schools becos the virus hardly kill children. They should sit down and brain storm ways children will go back to school instead of involving dem in the lockdown for long. Before they lift it they should make it compolsury for teachers to go for test.if they wanna test children also..Fine

They should make it compolsury for teachers ans student to wear nose mask and gloves when going to school, while the school provide sanitisers for teachers and parent.
No parent or visitors should be allowed inside. They can pick up dere kids at the gate.

on Easter Monday when the lifeless himself addressed us,he never made mention of any relief measure. this one too just spewed trash without considering the aged citizens and working class,no measure in place to cushion the effect of the house arrest they imposed and yet people have been shouting on social media on provisions of palliative but yet nothing has been done so far.

please does it mean the FG is deaf to all our wailings or unaware? How can we make our concerns get to their table instead of just being keyboard warriors?

the lockdown is not yielding any result since the number of cases still increase inspite of d lockdown.govt should device a better strategy of curbing the covid spread and not lockdown.allow people to go about their businesses.stop copying western countries that are providing cash and other palliatives to their citizens.

You guys are right.

But you will agree with me that the purpose of a vaccine is such that it is engineered so your body is trained to recognize the diseases, learns how to fight it by developing antibodies and hence protects you from future attacks.

Now the problem with the coronavirus is that there are people who have fought off the infection only to get re-infected again. That is a glaring indication that the body does not build immunity against the disease which is why a vaccine against covid 19 is functionally useless.

This is a serious one, let's wait and see how things unfold. COVID-19 will surely not wipe the world out and we cannot be inside forever. Something positive must happen.

NCDC needs to justify its existence so let the lockdown continue while they claim every death is from coronavirus.

The fact that most of the people that are dying are known to have one chronic illness or the other and the rest are redesigned Covid-19 deaths just to scare people is not lost on some of us.

People were going to die in March and April but now you tag every normal death Covid-19 so that you can keep hood winking Nigerians. Soludo has already written a brilliant article stating that lockdown without any palliatives is wrong and lockdown without any govt strategic plan for life after lockdown is destructive

........as Nigerians no dey hear word, coronavirus too no dey hear word grin

This isn't funny really. But is this lockdown really effective? Interstate movements are still going on as normal. Is it about lockdown or it is about how optimally the opportunity afforded by the lockdown to Trace, Test and Treat those already infected is explored.

This is very sad.

Is this how other nations that are under lockdown are locking down their people without direct palliatives to every single citizen including children to cushion the effects of the forced lockdown? One full month and no assistance from the government. The government shares palliatives in piecemeal and selectively, and even make states and people who were not under lockdown the priority. So irresponsible!

People have become full time beggars everywhere now.

They want people to survive covid but die of other causes?

More people have been killed as a result of fallouts from this lockdown but these not too intelligent folks haven’t a clue to understand anything that doesn’t involve their own direct benefits and comfort, after all their own livelihood is taken care of by the government and is not under any lockdown.

As we speak, artisans are not earning any money, businesses are already being wiped out with people losing their jobs, but no these ones are too myopic to understand or analyze anything. They copy but copy wrongly; only the easy part involving the people’s responsibility. Their own responsibility they muddle up like kindergartens.

Leadership in Nigeria is just a joke- no visionaries, no thinkers, just a bunch of selfish individuals who have no business administering the people or their resources!

The thing is, a vaccine is useless against the disease.

An outright cure or dampening of the effects of the virus is what we need.

Before that can be achieved, no matter how much you lockdown, the virus will take a very very long time to run it's course.

At this point, I propose we go the way of Sweden albeit some interesting modifications.
what kind of modifications?

Perhaps it is time to hand over the NCDC to someone who can scale the organization to the size required to eradicate a fast-moving virus from a country with 190m residents? We are tired of listening to excuses as we waste away at home. Hand it over to someone who has experience with running a very large organization. I don’t even care if the person is an epidemiologist at this point. Just someone who can grasp the scope of the challenge and is willing and able to obtain and effectively utilize the massive resources needed to tackle it. Enough with the failures and excuses.
Dr Ihekweazu is a competent epidemiologist. Read about him.

In addition to wat u said,

1..Fed govt should give palliatives to the needy, to ease the lockdown.
2.. Nigerians should be their brother keepers by giving a little to the next door neighbor to feed.
It's easier said than done. How many people have you fed on your street?

And death is inevitable anyway. Have you taught about people being killed as a result of armed robbery attacks which will definitely be on the increase if this lockdown continues?
It is not just possible for a person to stay indoors without food. I don't know how to really explain this to you, but it's not just possible

I don't see any reason stated in the article.

Give us tangible reasons, that's what a responsible and credible leader will do not imploring us to endure.

Deja-vu this keep happening....Just like b4 APC Government came on board every Nigerian was forming Economic and anti corruption guru.

Nigerians are proffering for a Relax in Luckdown like Economics and epidemics guru.

If this Lockdown is relaxed, three of these will happen
1. New cases will escalate
2. Hospitals will be overwhelmed
3. Nigerians.... this same Nigerians agitating for a relaxed Luckdown will accuse this Government of irresponsibility. Saying they’ll forget they where d ones that asked for relaxed Luckdown will b an under statement.

Government shouldn’t dare Relax this Luckdown.
