Probably a snake. I'm not sure if the markings on the body are just snakeskin patterns or if they represent something.

Description
Bronze pendant in form of equestrian figure on a lunate or crescentic plate, from which five chains with bells, a bronze mounted stone charm and an anthropomorphic snuff-bottle hang.

Dimensions
Width: 5.8 inches

Curator's comments
Register 1949:
Bronze Pendant in form of Equestrian figure on a lunate form, from which 5 chains with bells , a bronze mounted stone charm & an anthropomorphic snuff-bottle hang.
"Formerly in the possession of the first District Commisioner at Benin after the 1897 expedition, & then of his stepdaughter, Mrs Ossiakovska."

BENIN, NIGERIA.

[The notes on this object on the British museum website suggest it has a mixture of two styles - the Benin style and the "Lower Niger Bronze Industry" style, with only the snuff bottle having the Benin style and the rest of the object being the "Lower Niger Bronze Industry" style.]

Plaque (ama) with Court Retainer, Benin City, Nigeria, middle period, 1550-1680 (bronze), Edo Culture

[Note that the dates are approximate/not definite, as actual dating was not carried out except on a few pieces, and instead the date of the writings from visitors describing the art is one of the main pieces of evidence usually used to determine the age of the different pieces of art.]

[This is just my hypothesis, but the strange looking figure on the armlet is probably the outline of a Portuguese/European person, representing trade wealth (although one does wonder why they didn't just depict the figure out right or in full detail as is done on several other pieces).]
