honeric01:It will be to complain endlessly about something. ovian or to vian----is also to complain but usually about a lost or what you wish you have. |
Re: Bini Insults! by honeric01(m): 12:55pm On Feb 10, 2011 |
^^^^ Then we both agree that t'aikpen is to nag right? Nag is to complain endlessly |
Re: Bini Insults! by amazonia(m): 1:12pm On Feb 10, 2011 |
yes , you're right. but there is a subtle difference. To nag often entails demands. like nagging parents/friends/others for something. while t'aikpen implies rebelliousness or defiance of authority. |
Re: Bini Insults! by honeric01(m): 2:26pm On Feb 10, 2011 |
^^^^ Don't you think you're contradicting yourself? how can you say i'm right, but still say there's a difference? I thought ikor was to disagree/rebel against authority? Like ikor vwe me khin meaning I'm your opposition |

^^^^ Oga stop confusing me |
Re: Bini Insults! by amazonia(m): 5:58pm On Feb 10, 2011 |
^^^ I didn't intend to confuse you. Bini language is very comprehensive . One need to wear his/her thinking hat to deal with it. |
Re: Bini Insults! by honeric01(m): 6:14pm On Feb 10, 2011 |
And with your thinking hat, why aren't you concrete on which is which? |
Re: Bini Insults! by amazonia(m): 6:27pm On Feb 10, 2011 |
Working casually on your car sometime does not make you a mechanic, Being rude and defiance(t'aikpen) to your elder sometime does not make you an enemy(ikor). But, perpetually behaving in that manner could earn you enmity. |
Re: Bini Insults! by amazonia(m): 10:49pm On Feb 10, 2011 |
Reading back, i see you could have been right, if we defined our terms correctly. That is Ikor---- is not really enemy. But a botherer, agitator, and unwanted companion. an okpomwan. usually use to describe a debt collector.etc. Eghian-----Is enemy. you don't associate with enemies. They are to be avoided. so, it is characteristic of an Ukor to T'aikpen, that is behave rude, in non-compliance ways. A relationship with an ukor can degenerate to enmity[Eghian]. |
Re: Bini Insults! by MissyB3(f): 11:06pm On Feb 10, 2011 |
It's Eghian not Ekhian. |

Missy ★ B:Mschwww. . And she dey oppress all of us with her Bini for hia. I'm gonna go with talking rudely/defiantly because i don't think nagging fits into the situation i described-complaining why someone else doesn't do the work when you're sent on an errand. |

bokohalal:Could you please translate? I remember Igabari and Okobo. . . . Don't know what they mean though. |
Re: Bini Insults! by bokohalal(m): 12:27am On Feb 20, 2011 |
Okobo means a fool. And as for 'igabari', we could start something here that could lead to an unending war. The meaning is clear but the 'why' i do not know. |

Interesting, i just stumbled on this. Well, i"m Bini. . .at least my old man is and my mum is a whitey. Anyways, i"m not really that good with the language but the old man speaks it a lot with his family. I kind of picked a little and i"m regretting the fact i couldn"t really learn it properly. Anyway, i know one or two insults. U'' zuo. Ewe na khin Ozuo na khin Emila na khin. I'm sure my spellings ain"t right. I"d really luv to meet all tthe bini people on NL. We should have our meet up thread. And Oh, MissyB whom i argued with on another thread is my sis. . . |

Welcome! So i just discovered the meaning of this insult: Aramwenoha(idk if that's the correct spelling) It means "Wild Beast" Now my mom has been calling me this ALL my life(and she still does!)-i just never bothered about finding out what it meant until someone told me a few days ago So i called her and said;mommy so you've been calling me,your child a wild beast all this while? And she says, yes, you know you always behave wildly I recently moved to Benin for school and i've discovered(and been called ) some very colorful Bini insults |
