I think Ghele nor means "that's how it is" or "that's the truth"

As for how we(i) learnt Bini,i was very bad at it. I never did it in school or anything cos i didn't grow up here and my parents didn't speak it much when i was growing up

I have gotten a lot better at BIni from watching Bini movies and actually being in Benin
It's kind of embarassing hearing small children rapping in Bini when i can't speak Bini for longer than a few mins
Plus listening to all my aunts/cousins gist all those sweet gist in Bini has motivated me to learn it so i can hear what they're saying-Amebo is sweeter in Bini grin grin

@Missy B, what's the spirit behind this saying "Na wa for Wire road?"

I learnt mine strictly from my parents, only 3 of my elder brothers were born in Benin, the rest of us were in Lagos and I learnt mine strictly at home. (i can't even read properly in Bini nor write well but trust me, no former education was gotten on bini language.

@Atreides

I even know a song sang all on that word " omo nor zozo" lol.

Help yourself.

I see other Edos there too, was thinking it was strictly a bini thread.

The omo no zozo song was sung by Isaac Black innit?

I learnt from the people around me . . . I was born in Benin. And yes, all these ones we're doing here na purely gra-gra. Most of us [ I] cannot speak half as good as we [ I ] write or understand.  cheesy

@Missy B, what's the spirit behind this saying "Na wa for Wire road?"
I don't know for certain but I think it's a rhyme thing. Wa - Waya (Wire) road
The original saying - Na wa. To make it ryhme, someone added 4 waya [wire] road.
Like, 5 or 6 years ago, in Naija, there was this quip - ''Na so we go deh deh''
. To make it ryhme, someone added '' like Edede''.

Maybe we should start posting Bini music here too. My fav. bini artist is Ohenhen (Jnr)  kiss  kiss  kiss  kiss He is damn good.

Mix with more bini peeps and you'll surely get to learn more of the language.

omo no zozo, my dad of blessed memory wouldn't let the house rest, always played this song until we'd stylishly remove it after he must have slept off. Isaac black? you mean the singer?

No chance of meeting other binis around me.
A little too late, the best i can get is mixing with those online.

Yes, Isaac Black the singer sang that song.
Or maybe he re-sang it, but he has a song with that title.

Eeyah so it's too late? Koyor eeeeh.

Well what i consider to be bini is pidgin bini to others, i was laughed at when i went to Benin, we were speaking bini mixed with English and Yoruba and it sounded like slangs to the rest of my extended family. in between ourselves, we understood eachother, but the rest of them kept murmuring and complaining that they are not sure we were speaking bini lol.

@BlueDiva, there must be one bini person where you live. I moved from one part of England to another (predominantly white with a few africans from various countries) and one day a man rang my extension at work and said he wanted to meet me at the reception. Went to meet him at the reception and he said he'd seen my picture on the board (cause we've got all our pictures and Job titles) and noticed I was from Benin. He said he rang my extension when he saw it but I wasnt at work that day. He then came back some other time just to say hello, I'm just citing this example cause there are quite a few bini people around. My parents came to visit me and were speaking bini in the town centre and some man greeted my dad just cause he heard him speaking the language.

Keep your mind open and try to mix with the few nigerians around, they might know someone from B-side,
