Javascript goes at the top, assuming you want to be useful in an industry that's rapidly progressing towards web applications.

Java is the bread and butter of backend.

Python is a scripting essential - you can save countless hours using it.

After those three "staples", the field is more or less wide open. I would go with (because they are technically languages):

Scala. It is cool and good to know to understand the functionality and actually has a shot of being used in production.

[b]C/C++. [/b]Primarily because you can embed it in Python to boost speed where necessary, which is a technique that has been used to effectively scale Python apps to Tier 1/industrial-grade status.

But...
Calling Java the bread and butter of Backend is what I don't understand.

The King of Backend used to be Django Python framework but right now it's Express node.js framework which is still same JavaScript.

Python is used mostly now for
Data Analysis
Data Science
Machine Learning and
Artificial Intelligence.
