I know but remember that last year Gallup poll showed republicans are 30% to democrats 29%, so it's not always consistent.

But when I mean half of the US I mean both republicans and independent-leaning republicans.

Go and check well independents always vote republicans in almost all of the US elections. Trump won independents in 2016.

And besides check well a recent poll by either Rasmussen or Gallup showed trump in higher approval than disapproval by independents.

Never fail to realize that polls are highly flawed with high margins of error. Doesn't always represent reality.

Trump will win independents again, I promise you that.

Yes, I agree with you, Trump had a greater showing with the independents in 2016, the sole reason his the POTUS today but don't forget 2016 and 2020 are different election circle, with their different peculiarities.

Independents are always the deciding factor in any US election, even in mid term elections, Democrats will always vote democrat and Republicans will always vote republican, the tie breaker is always with the independents, they vote base personality appeal, who they feel hold their best interest. Hilary Clinton lost 2016 election because of the bengazi issue, for me it wasn't about her private email or the Russian collision, many independents believed she sold out the integrity of the US and the anger cumulated after the families of the slain agents lost in the court.

But 2020 is a different ball game, I had a run with you on the tread created by pdpguy, I tried to explain things to you. Many independents choose Trump instead of Hilary because of her credibility issue and the mishandling of bengazi but not because Trump is the best man for the job.

Go back, check results from the 2016 results from the swing States Trump won, the margin was very little, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maine, Florida etc all was by slight margin, reason he won the college vote but lost big time with the popular vote.

Still check the DNC primaries results for 2016 and 2020 in those same swing States and you find out the voter turnout was twice they had in 2016, many were disenchanted with Hilary Clinton for so reason of bengazi, they had rather stay home, than watch her win. If the turnout remains the same by November, believe me when I say their is big problem for Trump coming back as POTUS. A clear example is the 2018 mid term election, every republican and Trump fan should pray the voting pattern don't come as the mid term election did. All will be lost.
