On the 6th day of June 2020, nothing hinted Rachael of the looming evil that was lurking in the air. On that fateful day, her family never expected that an atmosphere bubbling with excitement would be turned to that of sadness and depression.
The 15-year-old girl left the comfort of her house, in her uncle and sister's company to the wedding of a family member that took place behind lamps and, International Church, Ojuwo Dekina, Kogi state.
During the wedding; she took her seat beside the cake designer/event planner who was invited by the couple. As they were conversing, Alfa Arome, the cake designer offered Rachael a coca-cola drink, after few minutes of gulping the content, she noticed that she was losing consciousness, so she went in search of her sister to inform her of her condition. At that point, Arome told Rachael that he knew the whereabouts of her sister and promised to take her to where she was.
He asked the young girl to climb his motorcycle, which she did, he then took her to one of his apprentice's houses at Ejeh road in Dekina, in a twinkle of an eye, Alfa Arome closed the door and forcefully raped Rachael. According to the young girl, she was weak, utterly scared, powerless, and bruised that she lacked all the strength to shout for help.
Meanwhile, a search party had commenced after the party, when Rachael couldn’t be found. Upon his discovery that the whole town was searching for the girl, Alfa released the girl through the back gate and fled from the town. When Rachael was found, she couldn’t talk because Alfa had warned that she would die if she mentions a word about what transpired between them to anyone. After series of questioning, she finally spoke out; while narrating the incident, the girl passed out as a result of the trauma she had undergone and was later revived, the matter has been reported at the Dekina Police station, main division, Tundun-Wada, Anyigba road, Dekina.
Alfa Arome is a cake designer, event planner, working in the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, also running a program at the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, and a politician vying for a councilor post under Iyale ward, Dekina LG.
