Decades ago, Estonia was plagued by economic degradation, political instability and insecurity. However, the country has over the years transform it's fortune via the installation of a digitally based system. Since the establishment of it's e platform, the country sudden burst in areas like ICT, Education and security is cordially attributed to the economy changing decision.

Thus, over the past couple of years, Estonia has experience an influx in the number of applying international student.

Now, are you are a student considering Estonia for a degree but lack basic information? If yes, then this thread is for you as it will serve as a guide as it's contains some vital information to lead through.

LOCATION
Estonia is a Scandinavian country that is located in the Northern region of Europe. It borders the Baltic sea and the gulf of Finland and was formally part of the Soviet Union. The country has more then 1500 beautifull islands and is mainly characterised by dots of castles, churches and hilltop fortresses.

ACCOMMODATION

A typical Student accommodation rate in Estonia start from €100 per month in school dormitories which comes in forms of a single, double and triple.
Outside dormitories, Housing cost is largely dependent on location and size. These prices range from about €100 for a place in a double room in the residence hall to €180–€450 or more for a private flat.

FOOD
If you are a food loving type, then have it that you can enjoy a comfortable food life with around €200–250 per month. Also, Each student are at the liberty of managing their food expenses depending on their individual needs. Every university also has its own cafe, and they sell at reasonable prices too.

Daily specials on pubs and cafes: €2.50–€4

TRANSPORTATION

Public transport is available for all but free for schoolers in Tallinn (both residents and international students).

Local public transport in Tartu: €8.63 with a monthly ticket (viable with student card)

Single ticket for students: €0.51 (€1 on the bus).

Also, Most universities have everything available for students (supermarkets, stores, cafes, health centers, pharmacy, etc.) and are within trekking distance.

Taxi (depending on the company): average starting fee from €1.9, based on distance.

bus ticket from the campus to Tartu: €8.10–€10.50.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

For undergraduates: valid school leaving certificate.

For Masters: a good bachelor’s degree certificate.

For Ph.D: a nice Master’s degree results.

Note that Students can choose to study in English or Estonia.

Also, Additional qualifying examinations may also be required depending on the program and institution

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

All applicants wishing to apply for Estonian program must poses a certificate of their English proficiency.
All internationally recognized language proficiency tests like IELTS, TOEFL, are acceptable, though some institutions may still need to run a personal language tests. Usually, the required minimum test score for BA and MA is 5 score in IELTS and 70 in TOEFL (IBT).


ESTONIAN LANGUAGE
Thou Estonian is not compulsory, it's may a barrier to a full social involvement in campus. Some of the University includes the language as part of extra curricular work while others don't. Anyways, enough Estonian tutorials are available for interested students. Additionally, Some programs in Estonian Universities are tuition-free for full-time students only and are completely taught in the Estonian language at bachelors, masters and Ph.D. levels. However, if you insist to study in English language, you will have to pay tuition fees which is usually between the range of €1600 to €7000 per session depending on the program of your choice
