£50m purchase of Torres just a drop in the ocean for Stamford Bridge supremo

Details have emerged in the Guardian regarding the breakdown of wealth of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

The Russian oligarch is renowned for his largesse in the transfer market with the £71m worth of deals for Fernando Torres and David Luiz at the end of last month highlighting that though relatively little was known about his other assets apart form his £300m super-yacht Eclipse which has featured prominently in the curious press over the past few years.

The information has been divulged after new rulings in his homeland required anyone running for public office to disclose details of their assets and with Abramovich aiming for a post in the Siberian region of Chukotka he was obliged to reveal his wealth.

The breakdown is as follows:

£70m in cash spread across 22 bank accounts, generating £3m a year in interest

10 homes around the world including London, Moscow and the Caribbean
*

Seven understated cars including a Range Rover and £7000 Volkswagen


* Ownership of several companies including Chelsea Limited, Eucla Investments and Lowndes Square Management Company.


His total wealth has been calculated at $11bn (£6.8bn) which means there could well be some equally big signings following Torres to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
