A 100 years old building in Shengzhou China had to be shifted 55 meters as moving it in one piece was seen as the best way to save it and preserve the significant heritage it holds. The work was part of wider project to improve flooding in the area and prevent the culture and heritage the building holds from being destroyed by flood. This is so remarkable looking at the tools used and it shows the value the country places on its monuments.

I disagree with you.This is not about the type of foundation. Choice of foundation is dependent on soil type and dead weight of structure/live weights it will carry, choice of construction materials, and not the country. We are talking about a weak and old storey building. A lot of intelligence went into that move. Don't make it seem like it is something easy and no big deal.

Yes it was moved with the foundations. Trenches were dug around the foundation and some form of hydraulics were used to support and roll the building slowly to the new location.
