Hello my fellow Nairalanders, I just started my own project. Been following up with the cost and will endeavour to share my progress with everyone. I have really learnt a lot from this forum and still learning.

With regards to my materials, I did buy them myself. I chose to purchase my some materials before we started the project. A little breakdown of my purchases and labour cost.

1. Granite(30tons) = 245,000
2. 250 bags of cement (2,600) = 650,000
3. Blocks (2800 6'' Hollow ) =580,000
4. Clearing of the site =15,000
5. Digging =160,000

I may not be able to breakdown the cost entirely with regards to specifics but I did capture all the amounts paid for each stage of the project.

6. Rod and binding wire( 12mm/70 lengths& 6mm/35 Lengths)= 213,000
7. Wood/ Nails/ Rope = 20,000
8. Hose and clip= 12,000

I had my reservations over the amount but had to let it slide. My Engineer is a newbie in town.

Like i said Sir, i knew it was outrageous but didn’t want to raise dust. I made sure every other negotiation was carried out with my approval.

I know you’re carried along in every other negotiations but the figures are just too much for what I’ve seen so far.

Spending almost 500k on excavation, blinding and blockwork of this size of build is not a good deal.

By the time you’re at DPC level, you’ll have done over N1m on labour only.

My sincere apologies here sir. I just have to state the obvious

You are right Sir. I noticed it compared to prices i got from sources afterwards. This stage was a painful lesson for me and going forward, i have to checkmate everyone involved in this project closely.
