Gloria Diri Foundation in collaboration with Rotary Club of Yenagoa City Center, District 9141, on Monday in Yenagoa distributed dictionaries worth thousands of naira to students in the state to enhance their learning capacities.

The distribution of the dictionaries which commenced at Bishop Dimeri Grammer School, Yenagoa, is part of activities lined up to mark the Yenagoa Rotary Club's Basic Education/Literacy Month.

Coordinator, Gloria Diri Foundation, Dr. Juliet Teibowei said the organisation was passionate about providing care for the most vulnerable people in the society, including boys, girls and the elderly.

Dr. Teibowei hinted that the foundation is committed to making impacts on the lives of every Bayelsan irrespective of gender as it is dedicated to the betterment of society.

She advised the students to take advantage of the opportunity by judiciously using the dictionaries, to ensure that the modest efforts of both organisations yield positive results in the future.

According to Dr. Teibowei, one way to acquire education is through the study of dictionary, stressing that education is a tool for them to be successful in life.

On the tree planting exercise, Dr. Teibowei decried the filling of trees for developmental purposes and called for a change of hearts as trees are very important to the environment and the survival of human beings.

She explained that trees help clean the air, provide habitats and food for birds, drugs like aspirin and paracetamol, as well as in building houses and other important things in the society.

President, Rotary Club of Yenagoa City Centre, District 9141 , Professor Izibeloko Jack-Ide represented by the immediate past president, Ken Irokazi urged the students to use the dictionary to boost their knowledge.

She also enjoined them to join the debate and press clubs and other school-based groups to acquire the needed foundation for their future involvement in the rotary club if they wish.

He commended the efforts of the Gloria Diri Foundation through its partnership towards impacting the lives of students and Bayelsa children in general.

In a lecture titled "Importance of Education and Literacy To The Youths and The Society", member, Board of Directors, Gloria Diri Foundation, Engr. Dr. Mrs Amalate J. Obuebite, highlighted the various types of education and explained to the students, the individual and societal benefits of education.

She admonished the students to take their studies seriously noting that education is the most powerful weapon needed to change the world positively.

Dr Obuebite emphasised to the students that education gives you power of knowledge, which ultimately enhance good quality in life.

In an interview, to beneficiaries, Master Ngozichukwu Justice and Master Theophilius Aderigha thanked the Gloria Diri Foundation and Rotary Club of Yenagoa City Center, District 9141 for the gesture.

The duo assured that they will use the dictionaries to improve their vocabulary while acknowledging that the tree planting will help in the circulation of air and beautify the school premises.
