Now days, everything is about material things. Getting the latest phone, living in the best house, wearing the most expensive clothes etc

Everyone wants to be right at the top there in term of materialism.

I am also a bit guilty of this (lol) I shop shop, buys stuffs that I don't even need. As long as its pretty, and I luv it, I will buy it no matter how expensive.

So that brings me to the question. . .

Do you believe society has become too materialistic?

For the majority of the people, I would say so. So I voted "yes". It's nothing wrong with wanting nice things and having nice things. While on this earth, you should enjoy your life and have the best things in life. That's how God intended it to be for us. Not struggling with poverty and sickness. However, some people intend to "idolize" these "things" and therefore, these things can become a curse rather than a blessing. Then this is where the problem comes in. When people would choose to have money, cars, houses etc. over God. Forgetting all about our creator during the midst of these things. That is why the bible says, I do believe in Matthew 16:26; "What does it a profit a man to gain the world but lose his own soul." Meaning when you die, none of the cars, money, houses etc. goes with you when you die. But today's society under Satan's influence has corrupted so many minds and souls that it's sad.

We all live in a world that is saturated by WANTS. We as humans are not conscious of the fact that we should be focusing on what we need. What we need is simplicity. That all we need, but we all want to be better than the next person so we lose focus on simplicity. The grass isn't greener on the other side. What is on one side is typically on the other side

I'm guilty of it too. I'm not really the shop till you drop kinda girl though-i just go shopping(with military precision),buy everything i need at once so i don't need to buy anything for the next six months.
What i really spend money on are gadgets/tech thingies. I see a phone,fall in love with it,save up and buy it only for a new one to come out and then i fall in love all over again,drooling over the specs and OS'. . The worst part is there will always be something better so you'll always want to buy more. I don't have any other vices(like buying every nice shirt,sneaker or worreva i see)but i do spend too much on other stuff. I think a lot of us need to work really hard to be less materialistic,y'know,to buy less of what we want and more of what we need. It's a noble ideal,and i suppose i'll get there. Eventually.
