‼️The first church wedding in Nigeria, ON RECORD took place between Christopher C.B Green & Stella Jesibi Green at St Stephen's Cathedral, Bonny. On a sunday morning 25th of November 1894.



‼️It was taken in Ayama village (Peterside) in the village of the first Photographer in Nigeria (J.A Green) in 1902, three years before his death. This picture shows bride's coming back from a church service. Now the Anglican church in Peterside called named "St. James" had been originally set up during the time of King George Pepple the first when he told his Chiefs to set up Churches at their respective villages. From records of St Stephen's Cathedral Bonny, we are aware that Church weddings (white weddings) started in Bonny around the early 1890's.
