Nigerian's in USA pls I have few questions to ask you.. by Nobody: 11:06pm On Nov 01, 2020
Evening guys hope you all are doing great.? Please ignore typos let's focus on the thread.
If you're a Nigerian and you're living in the USA pls share your experience with the police over there
Have you come in contact with them ?
How were you addressed ?
Did they act nice to you or other wise.
I watch a video on IG now on jaymazini's page he was videoing some group of police men chasing a black guy although with the look of things and comments the black guy is holding a knife.guess he is also chasing someone he came out behind a car and the police men gave him continuous gun shot.he died on the spot.
From my own perspective those police men will never fire a shot if he happens to be a white man.no matter the case may be.
So now my question is if you're a Nigerian and you're living in the US I need you to answer these few questions.
Have you come in contact with the US police before ? If yes how did they treat you?
Have you been arased by one before ? If yes how many minutes or hour's did it last ? What exactly did you do?
Let's here from you pls
NOTE--->> This question is mainly for people living in the state if you're not living in USA pls act like a responsible individual don't make any comments sit back and read what people living in the USA have to say after some few comments from them then you're given the privilege to drop your comments thanks

Nice thread
I'd like this to get to front page.
The USA is notorious for police brutality against blacks.

Let's here from factual black immigrants in USA how it is real down there.

Police know who they chase.

You're a Nigerian. Police has no business with you. Nigerians go to work, go back home. Relax at home, go to grocery store, go back home. Go to church, go back home. Go to naija party and go back home. Travel to Nigeria, and travel back.

We are boring people. Police don't see us.

Police has stopped me twice on the road. One gave me ticket for traffic violation, one gave me second chance. Last encounter was in 2018.

Why on earth will a Nigerian leave Nigeria and go to yankee and be pointing knife at police grin grin
When you were in Nigeria, did you ever point knife at Mopol or SARS? grin grin grin

Hope you understand.

When a cop in the States pulls you over, the way he treats you will be determined by two major things;

1. Your criminal record. Oftentimes they partially run your record before approaching your vehicle.

2. Your reaction when they make the approach.

Nigerian immigrants have respect for cops in the States and most of them are not violent even when they are into criminality. This is why you hardly hear of police brutality in their community.

A Nigerian immigrant with verifiable regular job may never get pulled over by a cop for his entire stay in the States unless he runs red lights and drives excessively fast.

Here is the scenario. When a black American who has history with gun violence, drugs or gangsterism gets pulled over, the cop will always be ready to defend himself. A good number of times, the black man will not only disobey the cop's orders but will also resort to violence and that naturally will make the situation end up ugly.

This is where Whites and Hispanics do better than the blacks. When they are caught or cornered by the cops, they simply give up and obey orders but black Americans will always argue and claim unnecessary rights even when it is obvious that they are on the wrong of the law.

This is my opinion. Eventhough I live in Cotonou, I dey watch American movies. grin

The police were even nice to him self. They promised him that they won't slam him on the floor. This is what you don't do as a Nigerian.

Yeah I understand but my point is if he was white they won't shot him on the spot like that
Around late last year I use to talk to one black American woman on IG her boyfriend is a white man
She told me that all the things he use to do if he was a black man he would have been dead my now .
I asked her why ,she told me he do alot of bad things and he have once broke a cop arm before and they didn't do anything to him. Maybe he grew up in black community I don't know.
Even in their movies when they chase black guys they use to shoot but they will never do that to a white man they will keep on chasing him.

Living in the US... NYC to be precise. I like your approach... to find out from those who live in the US and have been stopped/arrested by Police. Let's clear somethings first. Unlike Nigeria... the Police force is not national... not under the FG. Each State has its own Police.... State Police... that has authority in the entire state. Then each city/town in the State has its own Police but authority is limited to the city/town only. So in each State there are several Police departments and in the entire country... thousands. How one is treated depends on the mindset of the Police and behaviour of the person. There are Police that will target you because you are Black period.... doesn't matter if you're Nigerian or Black American.... as long as you are Black. Worse if you are riding through a White town.... you will be targeted and likely to be pulled over and they will try to find something to have you arrested. You raise you voice... threatening a Police officer etc. I got pulled over a few times by undercover Police working in unmarked cars. Before they even get to the window.... I'll put my work placard on the dashboard to let them know beforehand that things can go downhill for them if they overstep their authority. What they did?... told me my car registered as blue but looked black.... told me my rear number plate light was out... I should get it fixed as soon as possible....checkedd it after... it was working. That's their excuses. In general.....if you are Black... you are wayyyy more likely to be charged and enter the criminal system than if you were White. It is systematic. The guy with a knife shot and killed.... he had mental problems... his mother called the Police to intervene.... they drilled him with bullets... 10. If he were White... that would never happen... even if he had slashed a Police. Again.... it has nothing to do with Nigerian or American... if he were Nigerian the same would've been his fate. After all... Amadou Diallo from Sierra Leone was opening the door to his apartment ... the Police riddled him... 41 shots.... they thought he had a gun.... mistook keys for gun. Lastly... number of arrests increases the chances of promotion for Police officers... do I have to say more?

Guy grin those African Americans are very stubborn make I no lie you...
All the videos I have seen of the supposed police brutality always have some form of strong headedness coming from the side of black Americans..
Like, them no dey follow simple instruction issued to them by the police and most of the time, it leads to their demise.

But as a naija guy way go there now, na to dey follow simple instructions when u get stopped by the cops na... Because even fear of deportation or incarceration go humble u..

if we dey respect SARS for road here na NYPD we go come dey form "black lives matter" for

E get as matter go be sef, when their police stop you, na them go use their own hand tell u make u dey go... grin

Black Americans self their wahala too much. A lady was killed of recent and the cops were found not guilty. They came to arrest her drug dealer boyfriend without knocking. Why on hell will a lady with a professional job allow a drug dealer to be living in her house. If cops no shot am gang members could have. Most times they are resisting arrest

That's one of the last things that should be on your mind..... it's not like Police be killing Blacks by hundreds! When you do hear about it is when it is outrageous and most likely racist... unnecessary. Other than that.... the vast majority of Police are courteous and professional.... I would say 90%. Like any group... there are always bad eggs. When the Police fail to put the brakes on it's bad eggs.... the Feds step in.
