Ayefele or whatever you call your name, hatred won't get you far into the igbo world. Suck up your pride and beg for our friendship and we might just allow you to mingle with us once in a blue moon. You wish that you are an igbo. Have you ever listen to the way you guys sound?Idiot |

Re: I Want To Learn Igbo by youngies(m): 1:00pm On Mar 18, 2010 |
sitagirl:Good to know you already know how to use some words -how was business todayKedu maka oru tata -how much do you haveKedu ole i nwere -how much do you wantkedu ole i choro -what did you sayGini ka i kwuru -what are you sayingGini ka i na ekwu? (What = gini, ka = are, you = i, saying = ekwu) -what do you want to eatGini ka i choro iri (What = gini, ka = do, you = i, want = choro, eat = iri) -i dont have anythingE nweghi m ihe obula -where are you coming fromkedu ebe isi abia? -he is not hereOnoghi ebe a -i dont know where he isAmaghi m ebe ono -i will be back soonA ga m abiagha chi nso nso -when will you be backKedu mgbe/oge i ga abiagha chi? i dont like itO dighi m nma i like itO di m nma i hope you like itE chekwubere m na odi gi nma he is across the roadOno na ngafe uzo brush you teethChie eze gi did you brush your teethI chiela eze gi? wash your faceSa/sacha ihu gi i am waiting for you.A nam eche gi are you comingI ga abia? i aslo need help on present and future tense come = bia coming = abia came = biara have = were had = were having =were bring = weta brought wetara bringing = eweta There is need for us to take it gradually so that you won't be given too much at a time that may end up confusing you. You also have to realise that Igbo language is a phonetic based lingo. One word can mean so many things depending on how it is pronounced. Take for instance, the word "akwa" akwa = egg akwa = cry akwa = bridge akwa = bed akwa = clothe So you will improve quickly on the language skill if hear some of these words pronounced. Your husband call help in this regards Hope this helps

Re: I Want To Learn Igbo by Nobody: 4:26pm On Mar 18, 2010 |
@diamond. Learning Igbo here is not the best cos you will miss out the pronounciation and sounds which is the basic thing. I suggest you meet one an Igbo for a face to face teaching. |
Re: I Want To Learn Igbo by Nobody: 4:36pm On Mar 18, 2010 |
@youngies. i jikwa oru eba. Please try teaching only the words that are used frequently. You know that present day igbos do speak "engiligbo" and nobody will call window "mpio", but instead they will call it "window". Nobody speaks pure igbo these days. So teach diamond only the igbo words that are mostly used. |

Re: I Want To Learn Igbo by youngies(m): 10:08am On Mar 19, 2010 |
eina: @eina Your observation is noted, but let me assure you that there ara very versatile Igbo speakers on this forum that can hold their own down without the frequent infusion of engligbo. Try Echelon, Ifyalways, yours sincerely and et al |

Re: I Want To Learn Igbo by youngies(m): 3:21pm On Mar 19, 2010 |
sitagirl:It is not so easy to pick out some of these prepositions and verbs and simply translate them into Igbo language without putting them in context. The best translation comes when you use them in a phrase or sentence. i am not sure = Amachaghi m how many = ole i might come = e nwere m ike i bia can i come = o mu bia? must i come = nga abiariri? i dont know when i will come = Amghai m oge/mgbe m ga abia when do you want me to come = ole oge/mgbe i choro ka m bia? did you eat = i riri nri? what did you eat = ole ihe i riri? do you want some = i ka choro ? can i have some = i ga enye tu m |
