Jolloff Rice Without Blender? by AlNayjere: 5:02pm On Mar 18, 2011 |
Hello everyone! I know jolloff rice might be the most popular thing in this section, so I apologize for asking about this darn meal again. But I love jolloff rice and I'm a college student living in a dorm--we get pot, but we no get blender. Abeg, how can I make jolloff rice without the blender, any suggestions? my sauce base will be really ghetto, but I have onion powder (hehe), both tomato paste and diced tomatoes, ata rodo, and some good old seasonings (I even brought maggi and knor from home). Someone told me they once "fried" the tomato paste when they didn't have a blender--does that sound familiar to anyone, and is that as simple as it sounds (as in, do I just throw the thing in some heated oil and stir and season until I am happy with it?). There must be a way our people made it just as good when we didn't have a blender! **and I don't have a mortar and pestle either, but I have knives! |

Thanks for the help! I ended up getting a blender at a good price, it's just easier. My family is from Lagos--lived there for 7 years, but I was born and have lived in the US for about 15. |

^^oh, ok. you dont need a blender, mortar or pestle to make jollof rice. do you mean pounded yam or moinmoin cos those are what would require those items. you dont have to grind the ingredients- just slice and make a sauce, then add the rice. |
