The United Kingdom parliament is currently debating sanctions to hand out on Nigerian Government


The UK parliament is currently debating sanctions to hand out on Nigerian Government officials involved in the killing of peaceful protesters in Lekki on October 20 and other parts of the country. Members of parliament are looking to impose direct sanctions on government officials, who played a role in violating human rights during the protest instead of a general economic sanction that may affect ordinary citizens. Also, one of the Parliament members revealed how General Yakubu Gowon, during his time, literally carted away half of Central Bank of Nigeria to United Kingdom. He further stated that UK Parliament needs to use their power to stop those who are taking the wealth of Nigeria and hiding it in the UK.
